Second time visiting the Melia Caribe

We had a fantastic time at this resort! Food was amazing and the beach is beautiful. The only complaint would be the service at the front desk. We traveled with a large group and the room selection was not up to par. We were given a room for three young adults with only a king size bed... maybe a bit too cozy for three 20year olds.

Good vacation overall

Too big as there is 15-20 minute walk to beach if train is not around and service is mediocre plus no postings of what is going on in the resort daily would of liked some thing in main lobby letting you know daily activities. Front desk staff not very accommodating.

Too Big for my taste

We travelled with four other couples, we requested to be close together, we were not. We all requested king size beds, two couples had twins in their rooms which made them waste the next day changing rooms. When you are only there for 7 days losing day moving is not cool. Pool and ocean were a good 10 - 15 minute walk from our room. So too big for me. Food wise, no complaints it was amazing!

A beautiful resort

Large resort but fet very comfortable. Beautiful grounds, it is about a 10 minute walk to the beach from the rooms nearest the main buildings, or can take then frequent choo choo train shuttle. Room was very nice, modern, everything was in order, well kept. Food was pretty good. We ate almost always athe buffets at the main building and at beachfront. A la crates are nice, and reservations are not required which is nice. Beach is very nice, lots of space, but it was quite weedy near shore during [... lire plus] our stay. There are less weedy areas down the beach if you want to walk a bit and then a swim. Bar service at the pool was poor, some drinks were horrible. The beach bar was a bit better but not that great. Lobby bars were good.

Amazing resort!

We had an amazing time at Melia Tropical. The best part of the trip was the people working there. The entertainment staff were fun, energetic and you could tell that they loved there job. There wasn't that much going on at the resort but there was enough. Also, the bartenders at avenue bar and the lobby bar made the best drinks. They really took their time. Overall, it was an amazing trip and I think this is the first time where I feel so sad depressed about being back home. I'm ready to book my [... lire plus] next trip now!

Melia Caribe Tropical Punta Cana

Check-in was dismal - took one hour after which two employees took another 15 minutes separately telling us all about the resort while trying to get us to attend a meeting about the Melia chain (all of which we had heard at check-in). The room was fair (noisy air conditioner and lighting wasn't great). The bathroom shower was fine if you were five feet tall or shorter, otherwise you had to stoop. No container for the Kleenex box and the glasses weren't wrapped in paper. No kids' amenities in the [... lire plus] room that we could find contrary to what we had expected. Not five-star standard in our view. On the positive side, the pool, beach, food and grounds were all outstanding - definitely five-star standard. Service was good to very good. We would recommend it to friends but would tell them the good and bad.

Excellent resort

From the moment you arrive at Melia Tropical you can 't help being impressed with all the things that this resort does well. The staff is efficient and very friendly, making you feel welcome while getting you to your room quickly. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Each room is cleaned and serviced extremely well and there is no evidence of deferred maintanence. The food in all venues is very good, always tastey with plenty to choose from. Wait and bar staff go the extra distanc [... lire plus]e to ensure that your meals arrive quickly and your wine glass is always full. The only fly in the oil is the wi-fi service, which is only available in the lobby area and is spotty at best. We are repeat guests and plan on returning. RWM
