Beautiful

The resort itself was very beautiful and was decorated very nicely. The sushi restaurant is amazing!! However the service was good, housekeeping was few and far between. We requested to have our room cleaned multiple times but they did not show up. Also, be aware that this is not a party resort as described, the bars close pretty early so if you want to party you’ll need to leave the resort- which can be expensive. Also when we went (late July) there was lots of locals and older couples, which [... lire plus] was not the crowd we had anticipated. The staff spoke little English which made it difficult to properly communicate.

Beautiful

Despite the negative reviews, I found this resort to be very beautiful, clean and amazing service. The food was amazing and the buffet had lots of options. The sushi restaurant was also amazing and our server really went above and beyond to make the trip special. Our room was basic and there was lots of construction going on beneath it but it was still very nice. The only complaints I would have is the lack of entertainment at night despite being advertised as a “party resort”. Also the ocea [... lire plus]n had a ton of seaweed and limited space that we were actually allowed to swim in. Another negative is that the housekeeping took forever to come, if they even did show up, despite calling down to request them multiple times. But overall I was shocked with the quality of the service and food. Overall I would say this resort exceeded my expectations and I would definitely recommended giving it a shot, despite all the negative reviews.

Power went out for 10 hours they did not inform us about laundry they cost over 150 us doller Food was not up to standards Mexico is a beautiful country and there are lots of other good resorts there do not make the same mistake we did But My travel agent Tammy @ trip Central was great if you need to book a vacation call her

Great experience!

The hotel was amazing, staff was super nice and helpful. Service was great, atmosphere was incredible. The room was gorgeous, my friends and I loved it! The only thing is the water in our room turned off s couple times for like and hour. But other than that we had a good time !

Amazing resort for singles

The hotel was very clean, easy access to party strip, barely any children. It's a good place to party for singles definitely not a family resort. There's a party in the pool practically everyday during the day.

Great Value Resort

Formerly known as the Cancun ME now Melody Maker. I stayed on the 17 th floor facing street and it was great view, sleep and overall rest. Saw Armin van Buren and Afrojack ...really great DJs and included during my stay....plus they had an MMA event so amazing to witness LIVE. Food is also good along with staff. Would totally recommend this resort.

Resort with Identity Crisis

We stayed at this resort the first week of March 2019 for one week prior to the spring break kick off. I'll start by saying that this hotel advertises itself as "the biggest party hotel in the world". We didn't know this when booking and started to see the advertisements in the airport to our amazement. With such a statement we were expecting something kinda awesome and started to mentally prepare. Although revamped and under new management, the building is a little old and tired. Its best f [... lire plus]eatures are the amazing pools which get covered up for some of the special events. Bottom line up-front is this resort is having a bit of an identity crisis. Following are a few aspects that were noteworthy of our stay: ATMOSPHERE The reason why I titled this review "Not what you expect" is because I feel like this will ring true for all those who come to Melody Maker regardless of why you are coming meaning that its not really delivering for any target market - party'ers or relax'ers. I've been to a few other resorts in the same area and there is always a bit of a "formula" for how these resorts do business. This one doesn't really follow the formula. Firstly, for "the biggest party hotel in the world", things sure did wind down early. The pool music, and bars all close by 6:30pm and you are left with the 2 restaurant bars and 1 small lobby bar inside the hotel. Two of these bars close by 11pm and the other stays open until about 1am. I say "about" because staff are pretty eager to shut down, so at around the 45 min mark, the priority becomes closing up shop vs getting guests their final call. Further to the bars, there is no night time entertainment aside from a small sing-song band in the buffet one night (of 7) who was quite good. Now; that being said, I think a lot of people come to this resort for the concerts. During our stay we had one featured DJ on the Thursday night but this wrapped up by 11:30pm. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty cool, great stage with light show and all, definitely a high-lite of the trip. The downside of the concert focus is you loose access to the primary pool area which has a negative impact on the remaining pool and beach areas. So my point here is if you are thinking of avoiding this hotel because you think it will be too crazy, I don't think it lives up to its claim so perhaps re-consider. If you are looking for the crazy party vibe, the lower pool area "Delirio" had DJ's playing during the day which you can hear on the beach and was a pretty bumping area. If you like people watching, this hotel is full of young "influencers" looking for their next insta-moment, so lots of tiny bikinis and buff lads strutting their stuff, which makes for decent enough entertainment if you're into that. There were almost no young children even though its not an adult only resort, yet perhaps it should be. Age-wise there was the full range of people but with a definite majority in the 21-35 age range, most of them Canadian, at least when we were there. Overall this hotel is in a weird in-between market struggling to define itself. OTHER ATMOSPHERE NOTES -There seemed to be a sewer problem while we were there. Lots of strange and passing smells of sewage that would come and go throughout the resort. -Line ups at the lobby were constant. We got lucky and only waited about 20 min when we arrived late at night. -Getting drinks can be slow in some areas. The lower pool, and beach you wait about 30 min on average, even when you go to the bar yourself. TIP: Once you find a good bartender, just keep going to him. Treat him well and he will treat you well. They all tend to work the same bars so you will know where to find the ones you like. -On our last day our check out was at 12pm and our “all-inclusive pass” expired at 3pm, even though our shuttle didn’t pick us up until 6pm. This is a terrible policy, we didn’t arrive until 11pm. What are they really trying to save here? Felt like - "Don't let the door hit you on the way out!" FOOD/ROOMS Moving on to the amenities, the food was typical for a resort. Nothing really stood out as fantastic, or particularly memorable, although some stuff was terrible (again, typical). There are three restaurants (Mexican, Asian, Mediterranean) and the buffet. We ended up getting bored and eating off the resort at the near-by mall a couple nights. We recommend La Parilla overlooking the lagoon, staff is great and literally you can’t walk by without them grabbing your attention 😉 … all joking aside, the food is great and reasonably priced (you should definitely buy the picture). To note, the resort’s beach side restaurant attached to the hotel is extra to the all inclusive, which we found very strange and never partook. We traveled with my Dad who bought the VIP package, so we got to see the range of what this resort has to offer. They had a big ocean facing room with a Jacuzzi patio. Ours was Lagoon facing with no patio. Overall the rooms were nice and clean, our bed was "okay", kinda lumpy with a topper thrown on as an attempt to make the mattress go a little longer but fine overall. My biggest disappointment of the entire trip was the lack of hot water in the shower (again March 2019). We only managed to get a hot shower a couple times throughout the week. We spoke to other guests, and some were in the same boat, while others had no issues. TIP: If you get in your room on the first day, and notice the water isn’t hot, just ask to be moved right away because it didn’t improve. They refill the mini-fridges in the rooms everyday, which is great. Buffet was good with lots of variety. There is a “nice side” of the buffet room which we preferred to sit at, but there seemed to be random rules to getting a seat… “sorry closed” even though the place was half full. It was very strange. Even my Dad who had the VIP bracelet couldn’t get seating most of the time. Since this hotel only just opened in December 2018, I think they suffer from general procedural inconsistencies that they are trying to work out. STAFF/SERVICE: The staff and the service are good. People are trying hard to ensure you are having a great trip but areas like the lobby you can see that the staff are getting berated with frustrated customers so they seem tired and/or frustrated when you speak with them. CONCLUSION: Overall, we enjoyed our trip and found it to be an interesting experience that I've never had at other resorts. I think they will keep improving if they are able to survive their first couple years. If you are ok to go with the flow, party or relax, you will probably come away feeling the way we did. If you're someone who is looking to experience "the biggest party hotel in the world" I don't know, maybe its what you make of it. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing resort, perhaps this one is not for you. If you want a bit of both than we recommend!

Fantastic!!

We loved our stay at Melody Maker.We were treated like royalty.They catered to our every need.Very clean resort,the food was great and our room was very clean and stylish.The only thing we can complain about is that all the bars serving drinks would close at 12:00 am.Other then that it was a great stay at Melody Maker.

Our interpretation of Heaven

First and foremost we would like to thank Michelle Turco at Trip Central for guiding us in the right direction. We were thinking of going to Cuba, Jamaica, Dominican, Bahamas, Barbados and Mexico. My wife and I did our research for a month or so on these destinations and our needs. Based on our research and Michelle's knowledge we choose the Melody Maker in Cancun, Mexico. Just like my title suggest, it was heaven. The weather could not have been better, High 80's with a nice breeze. The ocean w [... lire plus]as crystal clear, the beach had white sand, which was groomed every morning. The workers at the resort were always pleasant. They were constantly cleaning, manicuring all the gardens, several security guards monitoring the grounds and several lifeguards on duty every day.The food was amazing, many choices, breakfast for me, was the best. Although everyone was pleasant, a special shoutout to Jonathan at the pool side bar, Abraham at the booth for excursions, and the gentleman who helped us check in, also the two girls at the "buffet" reception desk, always a friendly greeting. We are already planning to return. I've read some posts about The Melody Maker that were not always positive and yes we had some issues. For instance our fridge wasn't stocked on a couple of occasions, the doors leading to the rooms slam shut and they had light construction going on to improve the resort, "big whippy ding dong", it is a 5-star resort in our our opinion, and everything does not go as planned, people need to relax "roll with punches" as we did. Bottom line, the food, music, beach, sand ,water, drinks, safety, room (and view from it),hotel personnel, were all top notch and you can't ask for anything more. It met and exceeded our expectations and will return.

Not a resort for entertainment

The hotel itself was nice but the problem I have is I see they are in the process of renovations. I asked the agent about this before we booked because we looked online and they said they experienced the same thing and the agent told me there was no indication of renovations. So everyday after 10 we would he loud noises that would wake us with the banging because they put our room right next to we’re the Reno was. I had tried calling the agent and all now still never got a reply back. Another  [... lire plus]problem I had was liquor stopped serving at 1pm that early for a vacation when I pay for all I can drink after 1 your shit outta luck and even the food is not open all night. You can order room service and pay $5 each time after already paying so much for and all inclusive resort you are expected to pay for that on top of it but the room was amazing clean newly renovated and the pool was nice the beach had a lot of alge though.

Pretentious, Off putting, Non-Customer Centric

Stayed the week of June 03 to 10, 2018 Upon arrival I was greeted and offered a beverage, that was very refreashing. I was assisted with my luggage to my room. The bellman helped me set-up my safe. Later that day I changed my safe number, and needed a new safe card to do so. Desk clerk at the time was very helpful (looks like "B. J." Novak and the other clerk who is also helpful looks like Captain Morgan). Went to supper at 6:30pm, and the server seemed irritated by my lack of spanish or, tab [... lire plus]le utensil Etiquette. I could careless of either, as my day was very long (had a flat tire on the way to the airport the day before, and it's been 3 years since my last vacation). First day on the beach, the seaweed was the worst they have seen in 20 years, I was informed, and did not improve during my stay. The staff at breakfast were a ray of sunshine through out the week, and I have only positive vibes to give here. If you are setting up on the beach, go for the middle, as they are IN construction. They do offer a beach menu on some days, and a buffet on others that you need to make your way to the upper pool level section near entry/exit of resort. They do change where you can go for Supper throughout the week, to give you a variety. You need to book your reservations for the Teriaki Restaurant. Now on to the garbage. I had been Sunbathing topless 4 days into my vacation when I was approached by resort concierge " hey lady, hey lady. This isn't the kind of resort". Now that is fine, till I go to the pool on the same day, late afternoon, and have a lady masturbated a man inside the pool. Security and concierge didn't want to get wet, so most of the other guests including myself saw the O face. The man was eventually assisted out of the pool, while lady stayed and moved onto the next unsuspecting pray. On the same day, late evening, I went to the front desk to ask where I can topless sunbathe on the beach, keeping to myself like I have for the last four days (I put my top on when leaving my set-up to go bathroom, walk the beach etc., and like an even tan. Has nothing to do with sex, and if your in a relationship where your man looks, and he knows that shit upsets You, I can guaranteed You had problems well before going on your vacation), and an older man in his mid forteys to early fifties was very off putting, could not look me in the eyes, and automatically assumed I wanted to go to the strippers/peelers. When I clarified this was not the case, he waved me off after circling resorts on a map for topless sunbathing. I was picking up this judgmental old Spanish Inquisition Catholic vibe from him. He has no business being in a position dealing with customers, as a frontdesk clerk, with this way of thinking, especially dealing with customers from all over the globe. I had to deal with him two other times afterward, and still dealing with the same arrogant garbage. Its a perspective that has so many dysfunctional ties. It infuriates me that this perspective is still going strong, especially when the country itself, is in a third world state. How about clean your backyard up first, cause your garbage stinks. So second last day of vacation, same pool, overheard a couple getting pissy with each other. The man was like " I am perfect just the way I am". I thought it was funny at first. Then he honked his nose and swirled it into the water, and snott floats drifting all around me. I showered off both days and came to the conclusion. "THE POOL IS DIRTY". No amount of models, hookas, and pretending to have lots of money will change this. Now the service at the beach is great till Saturday after 12pm, in terms of food and drinks to your beach set-up. They hire models in the newest fullbody bathing suits in high heels, that dance to the latest music being played. You cannot go near them from what I was told by other guests in the pool, and security guards them like the holy grail. You will need to pay 35000 pesos to sit by the pool ,and pay extra pesos to have a Hookah at your set-up by the pool. Its the same spot that you have set-up for free at all week, oh and lung cancer free too. This is literaly right out of a MTV music video, some sort of fantasy being fulfilled here. FYI! those who have money, keep their money, by not spending it on this kind of garbage. Another thing, if your single, they seem to have a problem with this. I was constantly asked if I was alone, then given a look like I have no business being alone, by some staff. Not here to give you an origin storey, and its non of your dame business. I was their for my 35th birthday, I had requested to have a cake made for this day through tripcentral. This was not honoured, and my birthday week was not made special. Also, they have construction going on both sides of the building, beach facing. That's right, you get to listen to a Jack Hammer run most of the day on both sides of the beach, with a side order of music in the middle thumping most of the day. So don't bother going, if you want to come down from your busy life. For what I paid, this is by far a 2 star resort. And I would be very concerned when they do get up and running, to full capacity, that the reception and service dont become non-existent. Oh and management, save your sorrys, apologies, as you have intentionally set this resort up for people ready to spend money, even when you have an all-inclusive package. So what are you going to do about it? for the next arriving guests?

The Melody Maker was above our expectations! we stayed the week of April 16 2018 The Staff was fantastic, very pleasant, always had a smile & eager to help in any way. The complex was always very clean with staff always staying on top of things. Food was terrific, with lots of variety & presented well. Drinks were "very" sufficient, & not skimpy like other resorts. Rooms were very clean & housekeeping did an excellent job everyday. The pool & area was great, could use more umbrellas thou [... lire plus]gh. The beach was top notch, clean and lots of loungers. Bonus was they had a lifeguard on duty. We would highly recommend the Melody for anyone that wants to relax & take it easy.

Great Resort

This was a great resort with lots of superb service. We have been to many many all inclusive and this has been the best by far. 2 pools, individual beach umbrellas, hard working staff, great price. Would go back in a flash.

Resort was great

Hotel was good after a upgrade to ocean view we were not happy with the first room offered because it was above the restaurant and all we could smell was the food we asked for a new room and were given one

Good resort, customer service was not great

Had some issues upon checkout. Our flight was delayed and they would not let us use the facility to eat or get dressed. Not impressed with final service provided by Cesaer. The manager Jeanette was great. She was very accommodating and flexible.

Good Resort

This is a very good resort in terms of the food, grounds and location. Great for younger couples

Beautiful hotel, food was great, drinks and espresso bar especially. Although the entertainment is not very good for older people. Music very loud. If you are early to bed, make sure that you do stay in a room over the disco

Me Cancun Mexico

Great hotel. I enjoyed my stay. It's very contemporary so if you're into that you should go for sure. But if you're looking for the Mexican experience this may not be the right place. The WiFi at the hotel was poor and worked mainly in the lobby but not a big deal. The food and service was good but could be a little better.

Very cool place to go

This hotel was not your typical Mexican tourist hotel. Everything was high end and it was a great place for the 20-30 year old crowd. Katherine Ervasti was our rep and she was great to deal with Thanks!
