Awesome Hotel!

This hotel was very clean. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels. The only downfall was no bar fridge. Luckily we have friends who lent us a cooler. We had breakfast included and always fresh and delicious. Wasn’t the same old bacon, eggs and toast. Omelettes were fantastic!

Loved this resort!!

The hotel was clean, staff were great.....friendly and helpful! The location was great....close to everything. My only suggestion would be to expand the pool area....not really enough lounge chairs. The menu for the all inclusive could be enhanced as well.

Great place to stay

All Staff very warm and welcoming. Rooms very clean. FYI.....most rooms do not have a refrigerator, Service is great! Wifi was very good. Centrally located, its in walking distance to centre of town. Marina is close by, as well as a beach, small craft market, pharmacy, are 5 minutes away. There are some good restaurants nearby if looking for a change. The hotel is generally quiet, a good place for R&R. Food is good, even though there have been some menu reductions. The bar only offers do [... lire plus]mestic alcohol so if your looking for a particular kind of whiskey or Gin get it from duty free as it may not be found.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

The Good: The hotel is super clean with very friendly helpful staff. Ac worked well. and there were quality towels aplenty. -The food was very good for an all inclusive. This was probably due to the restaurant also being a small private restaurant where folks could buy a meal. Breakfast had a good variety of mexican fare. The lunch and dinners were ala carte .Not a lot of variety but the quality was good and they were open to customisation on your order.. - Your room has a Key card entry s [... lire plus]ystem working in conjunction with the lights and AC which were activated by the same card by placing it permanently in a slot just inside the door. This helped you to not lose your card in the room and could always be extracted from the holder as you left the room and thereby also turning off the AC and lights. The Bad: The KeyCard worked 90% of the time. When not you had to trek to the front desk for a quick reprogramming. - The pool is small. Only four and a half feet deep. More of a kids pool or one to cool in.There are three tiled recliners semi- submerged for wet sunbathers. If there are kids in the pool forget about using one of those recliners. - the closest beach is one block walk away. Not too bad. - The Bar, the outdoor eating area, entrance to the AC restaurant and washrooms ; fifty percent of the time require you to duck below an overhang of fronds thatching the palapa. This may not sound like much but it gets truly tiring and if you have a bad back its a pain. I'm only 5' 9" . What's painful also is to watch how frustrated the waiters are with it. You ask why they don't just trim it back and they say they would love to but the Boss says no. Stupidity can be painful. Especially when you are trying to take a vacation from it. - Crap drinks that close at 11 pm. All mix drinks were sweet and made with watered down low grade liquor. If you ask why does this taste like sweet water? They will show you the quality liquor bottle, which has been refilled with watered down low grade liquor, and ask what's the problem? My choice at first was gin and tonics. They came sweet even when I would asked for no sugar. Eventually I looked at the can of tonic water and the second ingredient was sugar. From then on I just drank gin on the rocks. The draught beer was the worst ever. You can buy a can though. If you like Mezcal you need to buy it. Doesn't make sense as mezcal in Mexico is so cheap. As cheap as the bad booze they serve. They do have a good variety of all liquors you can pay for though. The tequila was free. We had a glass each and I wouldn't even use it as paint thinner. The Ugly: On the first day I relaxed around the pool. Went in a couple of times to cool off until one the fellow SunWing guests from Victoria stood in the pool spitting and blowing his nose. This went on for awhile. I believe more than that went after but why bother explain. I never went back in.

Wonderful small resort right on the Marina

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn, Santa Cruz, Huatulco, Mexico last week. The staff from check-in day until the last day were so hospitable, friendly and accommodating. Nothing was a problem. The hotel is Extremely clean, well laid out, and the pool was gorgeous. This is a small resort and you get to know your fellow travellers. The food was mediocre but great for the price we paid for the vacation We had no complaints.

A great location in Santa Cruz

The Holiday Inn has the potential to be a great hotel. They are centrally located and within walking distance of the Santa Cruz beach and the walkway to La Crucecita. They did an amazing job of this walkway and it is a lovely attraction with a view of the ocean at the beginning and a view of the Sierre Madres as a backdrop. Breathtaking! The following are my observations during my two week stay at the HI Their dining room and bar staff has the potential for vast improvement. There was  [... lire plus]never a lack of servers but their appeared to be no direction provided to them. No server had a set number of tables and resulted in numerous servers waiting on you resulting in a chaotic serving pattern. Appetizers and main courses at the same time or appetizers after main course. However, the quality of the food served was always fresh and pleasant to the eye. Their wait staff made a concerted effort to be helpful and were warm and friendly. Suggestion: the arrangement of the breakfast buffet and the lineup at the omelette centre was convoluted. The buffet lineup should be reversed and the location of a single table directly in front of the omelette area should be removed. Special kudos to the following: Andres (young server), Andres (older server),Gabriel, Onofre, Rudolfo, Carlos, Israel, Edmond (chef), and special mention to the young lady (Adalid) who was exceptional. Also, the young man, Saul, who attended bar was good but very shy and seldom made eye contact; could attribute this to his young age. The potential to be good. The front desk was okay but not overly helpful. Maricruz was probably the strongest of the front desk staff. There was a lack of beverage mixes at the bar (tonic) for days and light beer on several occasions. It just didn't seem to be a priority. The rooms were spotless and the cleaning staff did a great job. Best beds and linens. Loved the darkening drapes. More effort to cleaning in the lobby and aisleways could be improved. However, the area adjacent to the bar was always meticulously maintained and they attended to the grass and plants daily. Biggest issue was the cleanliness of the pool and daily pool maintenance. The area was never cleaned the entire time there with one exception when they stained the far end of the pool deck. They have a big issue with bird and droppings on the deck, deck chairs, pool loungers and in the water. They did have a hawk whisperer, Abraham, come in two days a week for about one hour to scare the birds away, but as soon as he left the birds were back. I never saw anyone physically vacuum the pool, clean the pool deck, etc., and we were on the deck before 7 a.m. every day. Refrigerators in every room would be a plus. Some guests did have them them but it was a haggle to obtain. All in all, we would stay there again and feel some constructive input would assist them in making the Holiday Inn a definite gem. Just wonderful

It was great. Location, staff, food,room....all 5 star. Overlooking the marina and a three minute walk to the beach made this location perfect for my. The nearby market had all of the tourist needs and gadgets looked after at great prices. Definitely will be back. Huatulco is such a pleasant place with wonderfully kind people

Fantastic experience

The hotel was fantastic - friendly and helpful staff, good service, quality food, cleanliness. Room was clean and stocked at all times and regularly. Pool area was lovely and kept clean and organized (although sometimes crowded). I never wanted or needed anything that I didn't receive quickly and efficiently. I really enjoyed this experience.

Great location resort

Staying at the Holiday Inn all Inclusive resort in Huatulco ( Santa Cruze) was great!....i’ve Been to Huatulco many times and this was the first for the Holiday Inn. We enjoyed the location, all hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The Sun Wing representatives were great! They were very helpful in providing restaurant suggestion, never pressured to purchase tours and they were informative as tour what the tours had to offer. This hotel was small, but perfect for us. We felt like family. [... lire plus] The food was tasty, the rooms and facility very clean.the beach was a 5 minute walk from the hotel. What I likes most was the freedom to step outside and walk around in area that had many local artisan work. Everything was in close proximity. I would stay here again.

Great location

Perfect location! Clean rooms, great service at the beach club ( go early to get an umbrella) friendly staff. Book excursions on site with your onsite SunWing representative. A nice selection of food options.
