Worst resort ever

3 hours from airport no tub no balcony no stocked mini bar shower was broken Sunwing doesn’t even go to that hotel tried calling tried emailing had to call brother in Canada get him to call took 3 days finally got moved room smelt like mould still no hot water we were there 2 weeks we’re only allowed 2 alacartes cockroaches in rooms pools were green grey water came out of a pipe and ran right into the ocean from hotel no one spoke English food was awful they told me that I could pay for Covi [... lire plus]d test in peso’s and to leave country in pesos spent hours both times trying to get money switched over got ripped off both times people made me pay double it was like we were at a hotel not a resort then our plane broke down spent 12.5 hours at airport they bused us to a resort at 1:30 in the morning the bus left with out us had to take a taxi got woke up early for ride to airport checked out then flight changed again then sat in lobby for hours waiting for ride to airport had to spend extra money at airport because of 12.5 hour wait it sounds like they sent us to the wrong place

Not as advertised

The hotel was nothing like the photos, those photos must be 20 years old. It was very run down. The customer service was some of the worst I've ever experienced they went out of their way to not help. The restaurants advertised for a la carte only one was open and rotated between the same styles italian and mexican and you had to sign up for the day of and be there by 7am to get a reservation so no sleeping in. The service was better at the a la carte restaurants. The beach was crowded so we cou [... lire plus]ld never get beach chairs. The guys selling excursions would bother you and not leave you alone. There were escorts all over. The hotel staff were all trying to sell us drugs or "whatever you need" as they would say. The staff was very sexually forward towards me and I felt unsafe unless I was with my boyfriend. I even got followed back to my room by one of the staff and had to run inside. We could never get fresh towels even though we paid for the card. We had a fun trip because we made our own fun but it was more like camping then the resort and luxury vacation we were promised. If you don't care about the accommodations and just want to go enjoy the beach then it's ok but don't expect what's promised on the website at all.

Nice resort, good food but it needs updates

Overall the resort is nice, but not as nice as expected. The food was wonderful, hotel was clean, but needs a good update. There was also not much entertainment available compared to many resorts. 3/5

Good 4 stars resort.

Check in was very slow. We had a room in the building 16 on the 3d floor. Very nice pool view room, fresh renovated, painted, clean. Everything was working. Food was good. Brazilian restaurant is the best. Animation team is amazing. Beach is small but clean,not enough shadow. The water is warm, no waves if it is windy.

Great View of the Ocean

Even though the resort was half closed, I still had a great time. Staff were friendly and food was great at times and so so other times. There was always something that I liked. The alacarts were exceptional. The extracuriculum staff ie; pool games and dancing in the evenings were great. Would love to come back when it was fully functional.

Its a nice resort, nice pool, nice restaurants!! The vagetation was beautiful. The weather was perfect...the sea wow if you like it calm and turquoise!! The staff was 👍 The animation 3/5 The room was a 2-3/5 could be renovate I give a 3/5 stars

Not what i expected

This resort was truly disappointing experience. The service was extremely poor. Some rooms had major issues however when guest complained nothing got done. the constant approaches by men in motorcycles was annoying and sometimes confrontational. On a better note the grounds, pool, and beach was well kept.

Overall good for the area

This area is good for having a real local experience and comfortable leaving the resort . This is the best overall hotel in the area ; it is close to Santa Domingo and is a good spot as a "home" location for traveling off the resort , close to car rentals, grocery stores .

Disorganized

I would never dream of going back to this hotel again. Two hours drive from airport then check in was kaotic waited 40 mins to check in only to get in a room that was so filthy I could not bear to stay in it. Bad experience overall.

Overall a good hotel

My week long experience at the Hamaca was satisfactory. I can't rave too much of it as I did not fully use all of what it had to offer..such as the a la carte restaurants, VIP services, etc. I only stayed there because there were no more deals available that week at some other 3 star hotel nearby. My only beef really was a leaky toilet that also took a long time for the water tank to refill. I would also say that my room seemed more like of a 3 star quality, but since it was only a garden ro [... lire plus]om, maybe that's why...though at least I had a nice view of the pool grounds. I know that this hotel seems to have it's share of very negative reviews, which I had read before booking myself there, but my overall experience that week was not bad at all, from my perspective. So on that note, and for the price I got for it, yes I would return.

Regualer traveler to DR...better then expected

If u want a simple beach / pool relaxing vac with not much off the resort time..this area is not for you...go to punta cana :)..Was in upgraded suites...the section with a tower..great room..no balconey..1st time in a hot country with out balconey..clothing came home very smelly as i could not leave items out side to dry...just stay on the beach side of resort..bring your own towel so you dont need to leave deposit..food very good..quality is very high..best for this star range . i love this are [... lire plus]a it is not traveled by many canadians or americans..if u r an off the resort kind of person..this area is best 4 u....this resort is the most "western style" in this area...night life is very big in this area..bring $300 -$500 in spending if you can..some if the nice restaurant in area take visa..capital city only 30 min drive away..can take canadian$ to scotia bank in capital and exchange for Dom Pac..i perfer to use local currency as you spend less money..USD is perfered by locals..if going off resort..bring 1 nap sack..( not a purse) roll of TP and baby wipes ..purell and running shoes..leave your gold at home..dont look like $$..hotel staff speak english very well..installl google translate on phone..will make life easy.

Not so impress

We stayed at the hamaca garden be live experience for a week. We were kind of disappointed with the hotel. It is worn out. The personal was not so friendly and kind of didn't really care to help. I have to say that the food was good and the rooms were clean. I have no complaints on that. But the photos on the site are a little too pretty. The white of the walls isn't so sharp anymore. A lot of cracks , the pools have a lot of potentiel but the rocks are falling a part. We didn't swim in the ocea [... lire plus]n once and didn't have the chance to be at the beach too crowded and the sea smelled bad. Plus on the right side of the resort what you don't see on the pictures, there is a big industrial factory of some kind. Not so relaxing and breathtaking. Plus the nice restaurant that you see on wooden beams flotting on top of the water well it's not technically part of the hotel so you have to pay to go there and they have there nice beach with comfy chairs the ones you see on the pictures. The beach is very small and the sand is dirty. Plus the garden view rooms are on the other side of the road not connected to the main hotel and there was a lot of construction right behind are rooms. Not fun to wake up by construction pounding on vacation at 7ham ... our air conditioning leaked on all of my clothes in the wardrobe and the toilet was blocked when we got there. So over all pretty expensive for what we had. Really disappointed!
