3rd time and will go back again......

Everything was great, the service and staff was excellent.....always greeted with a smile and taken care of. Love the location and privacy of this resort, never feel crowded and lots of room on the beach....The food selection and taste was even better than before....Our room location was excellent with a nice view of the ocean........will definitely be going back in the future.....

Amazing resort

My husband and I travel south two to three times a year and the Bahai Principe is definitely worth investigating for a trip south. The staff are friendly and the property is kept remarkably clean. Whether you are eating in the buffet or the a la carte, you will get a great meal with lots to choose from. It is slso nice to be able to leave from Hamilton. The experience from start to finish was great

Not bad resort

It wasn,t a four star but the rooms were clean and newly renovated, it was a large resort with lots of activities to do , the activation team was good, but the nightly entertainment sucked,there was really no shows unless drunks got on the stage, It rained for three days. the marble floors were so slippery two people I know of broke their legs,they should have used more signage.The food was ok but no variety it was the same for seven days if you were creative you didnt eat the same thing everyda [... lire plus]y. The a la cart were way better too bad you cant eat there every night,the beach sucked the kept it clean but the water was dark and the sand was a dirty brown, there were sand fleas and lots of people got bit.we booked a excursion but was cancelled three times not enough people so we went on the sat and it poured rain all day yet we still had fun

Loved it!

Very clean resort. People were super friendly! We had been there before and would definitely go there again. Had recommend this resort to a coworker and he had his wedding there. On our way home my daughter asked if we could go there again next year!

Great service, good food, so-so beach

Beautifully landscaped grounds are kept constantly manicured. Food is varied and for the most part tasty. Concern was that invariably it wasn't hot unless you got it right off the grill. Hot coffee in the morning was unattainable. Don't bother asking for DECAF. You'll get instant!! Surprised there were no "munchies" at the bar. We had peanuts for 2 days and only OLIVES for the rest of the time.! Service staff for the most part were great! Disappointed in the excursion we went on. The Nolitours r [... lire plus]ep. promoted the Jeep safari. It was good to a point but it became clear pretty quickly that we were being driven to various places where we would be enticed to spend $$ ...ex. the vanilla factory...charged us $5 for a bottle that we could have obtained for $1 - 2 back on the beach at one of the stalls. They get your heartstrings to buy stuff for the kids at the school you stop at....but they charge you prices for stuff that are 5X what you'd pay for at the Dollar STORE back home. Our "guide" didn't provide a whole lot of info. in comparison to some other people we heard about.. He seemed intent on stoppoing frequently so that we could get "liquored up". It's a long way from anything and taxi rides cost huge amounts of American dollars. Right now it's important for Canadians to realize that a $30 cab ride to San Juan is actually $36 Canadian dollars....a local bus is 100 pesos or about $3....but the hotel people don;t want you to use that....support the taxi lobby I guess

Wow!!! We found our little bit of Heaven!

From gourmet dinning at specialty restaurants to the well manicured grounds this resort continues too awes us in paradise! Cleanliness of public areas and rooms (with spectacular views) were appreciated. Service was 5 star and genuine!!

Sweet getaway

Let me start by saying this was our first trip to the Dominican...and we would go back again! The ride from the airport was a little 'crowded' but otherwise a good experience, about 60-65 min from Puerto Plato. Upon arrival we were checked in and eating at the buffet within the hour. Rooms were ready after lunch and the vacation officially began! There were always plenty of beach loungers and the weather was fantastic, until the last night when it started to rain and was still raining the next m [... lire plus]orning at check-out time. My husband took advantage of the free scuba lesson in the pool, and this resulted in his first scuba dive with a certified scuba master. He was impressed with their level of professionalism along with the coral reef and the marine life they saw on their dive.The restaurants had a very good variety of food, including the buffet (fresh pasta bar etc) and we enjoyed all 3 "a la carte" choices. Language was not really a barrier as a smile is universal :) We chose the jeep safari as a day trip and were not disappointed: taking in local culture and countryside. Yes there were a few sand fleas, mostly early morn and late afternoon, but the staff was out there fogging the beach every night with bug spray, so they are aware of the situation and do what they can to alleviate the problem without spoiling the atmosphere of the place. Some in our group were not bothered by bugs at all. We had a recently renovated room and were quite happy with our location, close to all amenities, but didn't hear the noise from pool etc.The staff all seemed genuinely happy to be working there and a few went above and beyond their duties to accommodate us at night for a card game marathon! The animation team was great and not too pushy, you could participate if you wanted but no pressure! We would definitely go back in the future, there were lots of activities to participate in on the resort, even if it was more isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Very Good

The grounds were beautiful and very well kept. Public areas were also very clean. I think that our room was reconditioned but was average at best. The dinning areas were very good and the staff took good care of us. Cons. had to pay extra for the use of the security safe. One hour of free internet each day, extra charge for more internet time. Many floor areas were wet and unsafe to walk on during steady rain

Super Relaxing Holiday

This resort was perfect for us as we just wanted to relax and enjoy the sun. The staff was very friendly and the service was very good. The animation team that works the pool and beach area were some of the nicest I have seen at a resort. They made sure to come and say hi every day, they encouraged us to participate in the activities but were not pushy if you said no. I noticed the activities had a lot more participation than I have seen at most other resorts. I am sure this was because of the h [... lire plus]appy friendly staff. Our room was a little smaller than I am used to but was clean and everything worked properly including the air conditioning. It would have been nice to have a few English channels on the TV but not a big deal. We had asked for a room close to the resort and when we arrived we were at the far end, we asked at the front desk to me moved. The gentleman serving us went to get the manager and she was very helpful. She moved us to a room close to the resort very quickly and was pleasant while helping us. The buffet restaurant had very good food, I recommend you do not go as soon as it opens as the food tends to be cold. I assume it sits in the warming bin for a while during the set up, a half hour after opening the bins are restocked and the food is hot. We only went to one of the restaurants and did not enjoy it at all. The staff was not as friendly as in the rest of the resort and the food was not great. We ate in the Mediterranean restaurant, the soup was watery and the lobster was grilled and over cooked so it was charred. I usually love to go to the restaurants for a change from the buffet but this trip did not book anymore after the first night. The other people we spoke to did not have a good experience at any of the restaurant which was a disappointment since I stayed at the Bahai in Mexico and the restaurants were excellent. It was a great vacation and I would be happy to go back anytime.

Perfect holiday

Everything was great from the buffets to the well maintained grounds. We were in a recently renovated room which was nice. Very friendly and helpful staff. They even have a dive shop on site with an excellent divemaster to run it. The resort is fairly isolated but there is plenty to keep busy with for a week and never have to leave. We did a jeep safari for a day to see the island, which was very worthwhile. Great value all around.

Definatley going back!!

I will give the bad first. The bus ride from the airport was long and crowded, but interesting to see the little towns. Check in was slow, didnt get a king bed like we asked for, but thats ok, at least we had a bed! Toilets didnt flush well, but eventually it cleaned up!! Showers we very low pressure, but we got clean!! Now for the good... We loved this resort so much, that we will go back. The beach was beautiful, faced north so we had to walk quit far down to the end of the beach to see the su [... lire plus]nset, but not a big deal. Sand was more granular with some gravel in places, but beach was so long you could avoid it. We never had to look hard for beach loungers,and there was lots of room everywhere, however the resort was only half full so this may be different if its maxed out. Sand fleas were not an issue. I wouldnt even bother dragging along repellent again. There were very few locals on the beach, and the few that were there were very respectable.They got a little pushy at the local market at the end of the beach, but we just stayed away from there. The food was top notch!! We never went hungry and there was always something new on the buffet.The meat was always tasty and cooked to perfection.There was always good salad ingredients , but only one salad dressing all week, so I made myown. A la cartes were very good, service and wait staff was great. They love tips!! Our maid did an excellent job, we never had to ask her for anything. We never had sand on the floors or in the bed!! Air conditoner blew overtop of the bed, so we could have used another blanket. There was lots of places to sit under a roof, if it rained. Entertainment was good for the most part. Its always a bit perverted, but thats just normal. Drinks were good, they even had bailys at the one bar!! The staff was great for the most part. There were a few grumpy ones, but there were also a few grumpy tourists too!! We all have bad days!! There was lots of pool activities and free beach activities. This resort was sooo beautiful, that we want to go back there again!! Highly recommended!!

Treated like Kings & Queens!

Absoluetly loved this resort, friendly staff always with a smile on their faces. Food amazing beach amazing drinks amazing!. Watch out for the beach vendors!! I had the best birthday ever will def go back!!! I wish i was there now :(

Not a 4-Star Resort

They said the rooms were renovated, so you would think new fixtures, tubs, tiles furniture etc. But no. The only thing that was renovated was that a hole was made between rooms to make 2 rooms into a suite. Big gap under one of the doors let in a few critters. Salamanders we didn't mind, but the big hug bug that leaped out of the dresser drawer (looked like a cockroach) freaked us out! The food, some good, some bad. Had the leaf salads, not a good idea. Not washed with the bottled water, we all  [... lire plus]got sick. Once the inspectors had done their inspection, food and cleanliness went out the door! The service, was not top notch, nor 4-star. We did find the one guy in the buffet, Eddy, always happy and smiling and quick with service, he was great! The rest, even if you left a tip, you still didn't get good service. The cleaning ladies we had in our room were ok. But still didn't receive face clothes like we asked time and time again. Our room ceiling leaked, no help there either. Kept saying we will send someone. Never happened. The adult entertainment and children's entertainment was good. Loved Rosa! She was awesome with the kids! The beach was ok , not much seaweed, and that's good. The pool never looked like it was cleaned. Always had sand in it, even first thing in the morning. For the money, we rate it a 3-star.

Amazing Resort !!!!!

I travelled to this resort from Jan16-23 2015 Such Beautiful well groomed grounds. The entertainment staff were excellent always keeping you engaged. The Michael Jackson show and the Circus acrobatic show are the best. The food was always fresh and plenty to find to eat, the al la cartes were very delicious especially the Takara ( Asian ) The rooms are all renovated and the cleaning staff are very friendly. I would travel back to this hotel any time. I recommended it to a co-worker and she is ta [... lire plus]king her family in February. Such a hidden Gem! Only one thing to watch out for the sand fleas on the beach.

Good resort

We had a few issues with the room, but it was resolved and they were apologetic. However, my husband gave a ticket for a towel, to my sister, and the front desk manager was extremely rude to him and threatened him with a $25 fine. He should not be in the hospitality industry. However, the entertainment staff were wonderful and worked very hard to entertain us.

Nice stay

Stayed in jan 2015,good vacation.a bit far from airport.very pretty area.staff all friendly and helpful.we stayed in a suite close to beach.room good,quiet,ac worked well.minor complaints for low water pressure in room and slippery floors throughout resort after rain.food was ok but not great.would stay here again.

Wonderful Week!!

Just got back from a wonderful week away! My husband and I went with our two daughters, their boyfriends and my Mother. A good time was had by all! There was definitely something for everyone on our diverse group. We were at the resort for New Years Eve and they went all out-- one of the best New Years I've had to date!! What a fun night and the food was incredible. But the whole week was filled with fun and positive experiences. We took advantage of the spa a couple of times and the services an [... lire plus]d atmosphere were heavenly. Another day the whole group went out on the catamaran excursion and had such a great time. It was nice to get out on the water and see enjoy the beautiful scenery! The rooms were fantastic and the hardworking staff was friendly and always willing to help in any way.We enjoyed the buffet as well as the restaurants on site. Overall, I would highly recommend! A beautiful, very clean resort. Great staff, great food. Lots to do even if what you choose to do is nothing at all! There are many quiet sections on the beach for total peace and relaxation as well as quiet pools. Thank you for a fabulous time. Look forward to returning!!

Christmas Fun in the Sun

7 days of pampering and lounging by the 4 pools and wading into the warm ocean water. Grand Bahia very enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our newly renovated family suite was perfect for our family. The suite is two regular rooms with an archway through them. Two of everything! 2 showers! 2 balconies, 2 TV's. The grounds were very well maintained. Food was good and plentiful. Special effort was made over the holidays. Santa arriving on the beach by speed boat and giving a wrapped pr [... lire plus]esent to each child. Very cool! Gala Buffet! The main pool was quite busy with daily activities. We wanted quiet and and had no issues finding chairs and natural shade at other pools that were close to the beach. The beach was darker sand and had plenty of interesting shells and coral to discover. Some issues though: bites from sand flies. (Take benadryl). Water not potable. (bottle water was issued daily). Toilet paper not to be flushed. It took 1 hour 15 minutes to get to the resort from the airport. Quite the eye opener as to how the Dominicans live. You are not in Canada anymore. The Resort made every effort to make us comfortable. Thank you Grand Bahia

A little bit of paradise at this resort..only one drawback was the food of course but it was always fresh, nice touch in the buffet was leg of lamb, roast turkey or roast of beef during the week. Always fresh fruit, salads, vegetables..terrific assortment.
