Mon mari et moi sommes arrivés le 9 août et avions réservé une chambre supérieure, mais nous avons été immédiatement surclassés en Junior Suite dans la section Deluxe Adults only... OMG c'était merveilleux, notre chambre était tout simplement adorable, et la piscine privée, le restaurant et le bar étaient formidables ! Nous nous sommes aventurés au buffet principal et avons trouvé la nourriture très bonne ainsi que le service. Best Vacation Ever !!! My husband and I arrived Aug 9th and were booked in a superior room, however were immediately upgraded to a Junior Suite in the Deluxe Adults only section...OMG it was wonderful, our room was just lovely, and the private pool, restaurant, and bar were great !!! We did venture to the main buffet and found the food to be very good there as well as the service. The resort is very clean, pools were clean, and service was spectacular !!! Would go back again in a heart beat !!!

Une autre journée au paradis !

C'était mon premier voyage à Cuba et mon ami avec qui je voyageais avait séjourné dans ce Riu l'année précédente et l'avait adoré. Notre arrivée s'est déroulée sans encombre : nous avons été accueillis à la sortie de l'aéroport et conduits en bus jusqu'à l'hôtel. Après avoir été conduits dans le hall de notre section de luxe, où l'on nous a servi des boissons gratuites, nous avons été conduits dans notre immense suite, avec vue sur la piscine. J'ai adoré la nourriture, la piscine, et le bar du hall était évidemment le meilleur ! Je ne suis pas vraiment allée à Cuba pour voyager, donc la discothèque tranquille me convenait, j'ai entendu des plaintes sur le fait qu'elle n'était pas assez fougueuse, mais il est vraiment facile de se rendre aux clubs de Varadero depuis le complexe. Les jeux de piscine étaient hilarants, je n'y ai pas participé mais j'ai aimé regarder les jeux fous de loin, un daquiri à la main. La plage pouvait être très fréquentée, mais ce n'était pas insupportable, et la vue était superbe. Dans l'ensemble, c'est un lieu de séjour extraordinaire !

Another day in paradise! This was my first trip to Cuba, and my friend with whom I was travelling had stayed at this Riu the year before and loved it. Our arrival was seamless: we were greeted outside the airport and bussed to the resort. After being trollied to our deluxe section lobby, where we were served complimentary drinks, we were brought to our massive suite, with a view of the pool. Staff were very kind, service was almost always fast, and at least quick during rush hours. I loved the food, the pool, lobby bar was obviously the best! I didn't really go to Cuba to travel, so the quiet disco was fine with me, I heard complaints that it wasn't feisty enough, but it is really easy to get to Varadero clubs from the resort. Pool games were hilarious, I didn't take part but enjoyed watching the crazy games from afar, daquiri-in-hand. The beach could get busy, but not unbearable, plus the view was terrific. All in all, an amazing place to stay!

Un très mauvais centre de villégiature

C'est un 3 étoiles mais ils le vendent comme un 5 étoiles, ils ne nettoient pas les chambres tous les jours et quand vous le demandez ils disent que nous envoyons quelqu'un et ils ne viennent pas, ils servent des boissons dans le hall d'entrée dans des gobelets en plastique et quand vous vous plaignez ils vous disent qu'ils n'ont pas de vitres propres ! !!! Une déception totale et après 2 jours nous avons dû déménager dans un autre hôtel.

a very bad resort It is a 3 star but they sell it for 5 star , they dont clean the rooms evryday and when you ask for it they say we send some one and they do not com , they serve drinks in the msin loby in plastic cups and when you complain they tell you thst they don't have clean glases !!!! A totel disappointment and after 2 days we had to move to another hotel .

Le centre de villégiature, dans l'ensemble, était très bien.

La vue d'ensemble était excellente. L'emplacement est bien sécurisé, le paysage est très étonnant. J'ai beaucoup apprécié la deuxième piscine, conçue comme si elle se trouvait au milieu de falaises rocheuses, avec un cadre agréable et un très bon service de bar.

The resort, over all was really good. The over view was excellent. The location good security, the land scape was very was amazing. Really enjoyed the second pool where it is designed like it is among rocky cliffs with a nice setting and very good service Bar.

Un grand moment !

Le personnel est formidable. Il y avait toujours quelque chose à manger. Le bar de la piscine était très amusant et la section réservée aux adultes est très relaxante. La plage ne ressemble à aucune autre !!!! Nous avons également rencontré des amis de longue date venus de tout le Canada :)

Great time ! The staff were amazing. There was always something to find to eat. The pool bar was so much fun and the adult section is very relaxing. The beach was like no other!!!! We met life long friends from all over Canada as well :)

Hors saison A NE PAS RECOMMANDER !!!

J'étais avec ma famille et mes amis, un groupe de neuf personnes qui avaient réservé un voyage à Cuba le 19 juin, nous sommes arrivés à l'hôtel Riu vers 22 h 30. Le temps de nous installer, il était minuit et demi, trop tard pour faire quoi que ce soit. Le lendemain matin, après le petit déjeuner, nous sommes allés à la piscine principale. La piscine était tellement dégoûtante, pleine d'algues vertes qu'on ne pouvait pas voir le fond, elle semblait noire, personne ne nous a parlé du problème et  [... lire plus]la piscine n'était pas fermée à ce moment-là. Nous avons découvert plus tard qu'ils n'avaient plus de produits chimiques pour traiter la piscine, mais que la piscine Deluxe était en bon état ! !?? Nous avions un enfant de trois ans qui voulait aller dans l'eau, et nous avons dû lui dire qu'il ne pouvait pas ! il n'était pas content et pleurait. Ma fille et quelques amis sont allés à la piscine de luxe qui était très bien, donc ils avaient des produits chimiques pour traiter la piscine de luxe, mais pas la piscine principale, comment cela se fait-il, alors que c'est censé être un centre de villégiature cinq étoiles, ils n'étaient là que depuis un petit moment quand la sécurité leur a dit de partir parce qu'ils n'avaient pas les bonnes étiquettes aux poignets. Je suis allée me plaindre à la direction avec Joan, et nous avons passé des heures dans le hall, plus d'une fois à nous disputer avec la direction à ce sujet et sur d'autres questions qui ont été soulevées. Finalement, ils ont fermé la piscine principale et ont laissé tout le monde aller à la piscine de luxe sans les étiquettes au poignet. Le soir, nous avons décidé d'aller boire un verre dans le seul autre endroit climatisé de la station, le DELUXE CIGAR BAR, et nous avons eu droit à des boissons diluées ! Plus tard, nous sommes retournés au lobby bar et avons pris de VRAIES BOISSONS QUI N'ÉTAIENT PAS ABAISSÉES, ce qui m'a fait comprendre que je buvais du brandy je me suis rendu compte que je buvais du brandy et qu'au DELUXE il était faible et presque insipide comparé au lobby qui était une véritable affaire ! La nourriture était SUB-PAR, la même chose tous les jours. D'autres personnes ont dû se plaindre car de nombreux Torontois nous ont dit que tous les superviseurs étaient dans la salle à manger pour surveiller le mardi, ils ont dit que c'était le seul moment où la nourriture était bonne, nous avons manqué cela à cause du mariage et des réservations que nous avions dans l'un des endroits où l'on mange bien, et d'ailleurs, ils étaient aussi médiocres et très mal cuits ! C'était tellement ennuyeux après le dîner, il n'y avait pas beaucoup de musique dans la journée, à part un peu à la plage, et seulement le soir pendant une heure entre 20h et 21h, et si vous arriviez en retard au dîner, vous manquiez le groupe. Ma famille et mes amis ont dû partir le septième jour, ils n'ont donc pas pu profiter du swim up bar qui fermait à 18h??!!POURQUOI!!!La discothèque était aussi beaucoup trop chaude !!!,elle avait l'air conditionné, mais n'a pas été mise en marche !!?,de même que le hall principal n'avait pas non plus d'air conditionné, ni de ventilateurs de plafond COMMENT CELA ??. Les deux seuls endroits où l'on pouvait se rafraîchir étaient soit dans sa chambre, soit au restaurant principal ! INCROYABLE POUR UN HÔTEL 5 ÉTOILES ! C'était mon deuxième voyage à Cuba et le pire ! !!, je pense que je mérite beaucoup mieux ! !!, en raison du manque de qualité d'un *5* resort. A mon humble avis, ce resort ferait passer un resort *3* pour un resort *5* ! Dans ces conditions, je ne recommanderais pas ce complexe à MON PIRE ENNEMI ! !!

OFF Season WOULD NOT RECOMEND!!! I was with family and friends, a group of nine, that booked a trip to Cuba June 19th, we arrived at the Hotel Riu about ten thirty at night. By the time we got settled it was 12:30 am,and too late to do anything. The next morning after breakfast, we went to the main The pool was so disgusting, and full of green algae you could not see to the bottom, it looked black, no one told us about the problem and the pool was not closed at that point.We found out latter that they ran out of chemicals to treat the pool,but yet the Deluxe pool was fine!!?? We had a three year old child wanting to go in the water,and had to tell him he could not! he was not happy and cried. My daughter and a couple of friends went to the pool at the Deluxe which was fine,so they did have chemicals to treat the Deluxe pool!!,but not the main pool!??HOW COME??,and this is suppose to be a five star resort?, they were only there a little while when they were told by security to leave because they did not have the right tags on there wrists. Now i went to the management with Joan and complained, and we spent hours at lobby,more than once fighting with the management over this and various other issues that came up. Finally they closed the main pool and let everyone go to the Deluxe side pool without the wrist tags. In the evening we decided to get a drink in the only other air-conditioned place on the resort,the DELUXE CIGAR BAR,only to get watered down drinks!!WHAT GIVES WITH THAT??? Later on we went back to the lobby bar and got REAL DRINKS THAT WERE NOT WATERED DOWN,how I came to realize this was I drink brandy,and at the DELUXE it was weak and almost tasteless compared to the lobby,which was the real deal!!,just too bad that there was no fans or air to keep things cool!! The food was SUB-PAR the same old thing every day. Other people must have been complaining as we were told by many people from Toronto that all the supervisors were in the dining room watching on the Tuesday, they said that was the only time the food was good, we missed that because of the wedding and the reservations we had at one of the fine dinning spots, and by the way they were also sub-par!!,and badly overcooked! It was so boring after dinner not much music any where in the day time, other than a bit of it at the beach,and only at nite for an hour from about 8pm to 9pm, and if you came late to dinner you would miss out on the band.Music at the main pool was when it finally got up and running. My family and friends had to leave on the seventh day,so they did not get to enjoy much of the swim up bar which closed at 6pm??!!WHY!!,also the Disco was WAY TOO HOT!!,it had air conditioning,but was not put on!!??,as well the main lobby also did not have air-conditioning,or ceiling fans HOW COME??. The only two places that you could get cool was either in your room,or at the main restaurant! UN BELIEVABLE FOR A 5 STAR RESORT!!! This was my second trip to Cuba and the very worst!!, I think I deserve way better!!,due to the lack of quality of a *5* resort. In my humble opinion this resort would make a *3* resort look like a *5* resort! Under these circumstances I would not recommend this resort to MY WORST ENEMY!!!

Déception

Nous étions tellement excités lorsque nous avons réservé notre voyage, c'était notre première fois avec Riu et Cuba. Notre chambre était propre et la plage... eh bien la plage était incroyable. Malheureusement, l'hôtel était délabré. Les chutes d'eau étaient cassées, il y avait des ordures partout et je pense qu'il y avait des cafards. Les salles de bains étaient dégoûtantes et cassées. JE N'AI PAS ÉTÉ IMPRESSIONNÉE ! Nous avons quand même passé un bon moment, mais je ne referais plus jamais le  [... lire plus]Riu.

Disappointment We were so excited when we booked our trip, it was our first time with Riu and Cuba.Our room was clean and the beach...well the beach was incredible. Unfortunately, the hotel was run down. The water falls broken, garbage everywhere and I think there were cockroaches. The bathrooms were disgusting and broken. I WAS NOT IMPRESSED!! We still had a great time but I wouldn't do Riu ever again.

Superbes vacances

nous avons séjourné dans la section adulte, la nourriture était excellente, le service très bon, les piscines et la plage sont propres, les chambres sont spacieuses et propres, juste un manque de chaises longues sur la plage, les boissons sont très bonnes, y compris le bar capachino, beaucoup de bons divertissements, le shopping à Veradero est génial, la Havane est à voir absolument, les taxis et les bus sont disponibles à l'entrée, nous avons passé deux semaines du 19 février au 5 mars, le temp [... lire plus]s était exceptionnel, nous avons tellement apprécié que nous avons déjà réservé pour deux autres semaines à la même époque nous y avons passé deux semaines, du 19 février au 5 mars. awsome vacation great resort we stayed in the adult section the food was great service is very good pools and beach are clean room are spacious and clean just a shortage of loungers on the beach drinks are very good including capachino bar lots of good entertainment shopping in Veradero is awesome Havana toor is a must to see taxi and bus available at entrance we were there for two weeks febuary 19 to march 5 weather was outstanding we enjoyed it so much we are aready booked for another two weeks around the same time if your interested in going read the positive reviews I would not want to go anywhere if I would go by the negative reviews don't worry about food or drinks you will find something to eat or drink .we have stayed at latoc sandals in st lucia .riu in orcha rio .majestic colonial in Dominican they were all different but great resorts .but if your looking for a very affordable vacation Riu Veradero is an excellent value for your money.we met a lots of Canadians from all over the country just a great two weeks

Superbe Resort.....mais trop grand pour Cuba !

Le terrain était très bien entretenu, les gens étaient fabuleux, les chambres étaient très belles, la plage était très belle, le gars qui vendait des piña colodas frais sur la plage était incroyable.... et la piscine était l'une des plus belles que j'aie jamais vues ! Le problème, c'est qu'ils n'arrêtaient pas de manquer de choses....comme de la vodka... ?...et de la glace pour les boissons... ?.....et la nourriture... ?..... Je ne pense pas que Cuba soit capable de gérer un complexe hôtelier d [... lire plus]e cette taille.....surtout à Veradero.....c'est la deuxième fois que cela nous arrive à Veradero.....donc, nous ne retournerons probablement plus à Veradero.

Great Resort.....but too big for Cuba! The grounds were very well kept, people were fabulous, rooms were very nice, beach was very nice, the guy who sold fresh piña colodas on the beach was amazing....and the pool was one of the nicest I have been to!! The problem was that they kept running out of things....like Vodka..?...and Ice for drinks...?.....and food...?..... I don't think Cuba is capable of running a resort of this size.....especially in Veradero.....this is the second time this has happened to us in Veradero.....so, we probably won't return to Veradero again.

Excellent centre de villégiature pour les familles et les célibataires.

Le Riu Varadero est un excellent complexe hôtelier. Le terrain est magnifiquement entretenu, le complexe est propre, les animations sont exceptionnelles, la plage est superbe avec des zones de soleil et d'ombre et les piscines sont parfaites pour tous, petits et grands. J'ai rencontré quelques problèmes avec le climatiseur et la plomberie de ma chambre, mais le personnel a réagi rapidement et avec courtoisie. Après un examen rapide par un mécanicien, ils ont déterminé qu'ils ne pouvaient pas rés [... lire plus]oudre le problème et ont rapidement changé notre chambre. Je voyageais avec mon fils d'un an et des porteurs ont été mis à notre disposition pour nous aider à emménager dans la nouvelle chambre (ce qui a nécessité de déplacer le berceau fourni pour mon fils). La nourriture était typiquement cubaine. À l'exception du restaurant gastronomique à la carte, je recommanderais de rester au buffet. Dans l'ensemble, j'ai été satisfaite du complexe et je pense qu'il offre un bon rapport qualité-prix. Il s'agit également d'un grand complexe, ce qui signifie qu'il y a des options pour les familles, les célibataires, les jeunes et les moins jeunes.

Great resort for families and singles. Riu Varadero was a great resort. The grounds are maintained beautifully, the resort is clean, the entertainment is exceptional, the beach is great with areas of sun and shade and the pools are perfect for everyone young and old. I did experience some issues with the air conditioner and plumbing in my room but the staff's response was prompt and courteous. After a quick look by a mechanic, they determined they could not fix the problem and quickly changed our room. I was travelling with my 1 year old and they provided porters to help us move into the new room (which included having to move the crib that they provided for my son). The food was your typical Cuban food. With the exception of the gourmet a la carte, I would recommend staying at the buffet. Overall I was happy with the resort and I think it provided good value for money. It's also a huge resort which means they have options for families, singles, young and old.

Un personnel formidable

Malheureusement, la moitié du complexe était fermée lors de notre séjour à la fin du mois de mai. Ce qui était ouvert était propre et le personnel était toujours très attentif. Awesome Staff Unfortunately half of the resort was closed when we were there at the end of May. What was open, was kept clean and the staff was always very atentive. One thing that did bother us was the wheel chair access bathroom by the pool area. We complained that the door was locked and we required access, however it was never fixed for the entire week we were there. Access to the International restaurant was not wheel chair accessable either. These things would have made it much easier for us.

Fantastic Resort

L'hôtel était fantastique. Les chambres étaient très confortables et le personnel très agréable. Il y avait beaucoup d'activités pour occuper tout le monde. Nous avons fait des excursions d'une journée à La Havane et à Matanzas. J'ai préféré l'excursion à Matanzas. Le guide, Sergio, était fantastique - bon sens de l'humour et très bien informé. Il parlait russe, espagnol et anglais. La nourriture était bonne, même si parfois il n'y avait pas d'assiettes dans la salle à manger - probablement à c [... lire plus]ause du nombre de personnes. Dans l'ensemble, notre séjour a été excellent et nous avons beaucoup apprécié. Je recommanderais cet hôtel à toute personne souhaitant se rendre à Varadero.

The hotel was fantastic. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff were very pleasant and there were no complaints there. There were plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. We did do day tours to Havana and Matanzas. I preferred the tour to Matanzas. The tour guide, Sergio, was fantastic - Good sense of humour and very knowledgeable. Spoke Russian, Spanish and English. The food was good, although at times there were no plates in the dining area - probably because of the volume of people. Overall, our stay was great and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to go to Varadero.

Excellente station

Nous avons trouvé que la nourriture était très bonne et que les chambres étaient bien approvisionnées. Les animations nocturnes étaient excellentes, les gens étaient très amicaux, les serveurs étaient très serviables et la station était cinq étoiles dans mon livre

Excellent service, excellent rapport qualité-prix !

Nous avons passé une semaine fabuleuse dans ce complexe. Il y avait une grande variété de choix de nourriture et le service était amical et efficace. Le terrain était bien entretenu et les piscines impeccables. Nous avons opté pour la section réservée aux adultes, ce qui en valait la peine. Le restaurant privé était incroyable et c'était génial d'avoir une section privée de la plage qui n'était pas occupée. Nous recommandons le surclassement pour l'accès à la plage uniquement ! Great Service Great Value! We had a fabulous week at this resort. There were a variety of food choices and the service was friendly and efficient. The grounds were well kept and the pools pristine. We upgraded to the Adults only section which was well worth it. The private restaurant was amazing and it was great to have the private section of beach which was not busy. Recommend the upgrade for the beach access alone!! Amazing vacation and would definitely stay with RIU again.

Ce n'était pas Nice

Malheureusement, nous n'avons pas été satisfaits de l'hôtel. Je ne veux pas être négative mais nous avons eu des problèmes avec notre chambre qui n'a pas été nettoyée et nos serviettes qui n'ont pas été changées. Le deuxième jour, je suis tombée au bord de la piscine et j'ai eu de graves contusions. Lorsque je suis allée voir quelqu'un pour faire réparer cette pièce, ils l'ont rafistolée avant que j'aie vu deux autres personnes se blesser. Désolé, je ne reviendrai pas. Nous avons pris l'avion av [... lire plus]ec Sunwing et nous avons été retardés de 24 heures sur le chemin du retour. On nous a fait sortir de l'hôtel pour attendre dans un autre hôtel qui était couvert d'insectes ! Sérieusement, est-ce ainsi que vous traitez vos clients ?

It was not Nice Unfortunately we weren't happy with the resort. I don't want to be negative but we had issues with our room not being cleaned and our towels not being changed. In the Second day I fell by the pool was badly bruised and when I went to report to somebody to get that piece fixed they patched it up before I witnessed 2 other people getting hurt. Sorry will not be returning. We flew with Sunwing and we were delayed 24 hrs on our way home. We were rail road out of the resort to wait at another hotel and it was covered with bugs ! Seriously is this how you treat customers!

Grand centre de villégiature

Les chambres étaient de première qualité, tout comme le terrain. Le fait d'être dans la section "adultes" était un plus ! La piscine "principale" était beaucoup trop bruyante. La musique se propageait dans les deux autres piscines. La plage ne m'a pas du tout impressionné. Beaucoup trop de coquillages cassés. Je n'ai pas eu envie de marcher pieds nus ! La nourriture est typique de Cuba. Tiède et pas très savoureuse. Mais il y en a beaucoup. Il a fallu s'habituer à la viande "rouge" dans les hamb [... lire plus]urgers. On m'a dit qu'ils mettaient de la couleur rouge dans les hamburgers, et que même s'ils étaient cuits à mort, ils restaient rouges. Je n'ai jamais rencontré un membre du personnel inamical ! Toujours prêt à aider et à essayer de comprendre l'anglais.

Great resort The rooms were top notch, as were the grounds. Being in the "Adults" section was a plus! The "main" pool was far too noisy. The music carried to both other pools. I was totally unimpressed with the beach. Far too many broken shells. Did not care to walk in bare feet! The food is typical for Cuba. Lukewarm and not to flavorful. But plenty of it. Getting used to "red" meat in the burgers was a task. I was told they put red color in them, and even if it is cooked to death, they are still red. Never met a unfriendly staff member! Always willing to help, and try to understand English.

Belle station balnéaire

Nous avons séjourné dans ce centre de villégiature en mars 2014, à l'arrivée, nous avons apprécié le calme, les grandes plages, la bonne nourriture, et après 2 jours, tout il a cassé perdre. Plus de 400 étudiants de l'université Notre Dame sont arrivés. Nous avons continué à rester quelques jours de plus en espérant que la foule se calmerait. La situation a empiré : ils ont pris possession de la piscine, urinaient partout, se rendaient malades dans les buissons et se comportaient de manière gros [... lire plus]sière. Heureusement, nous avons été transférés dans un autre hôtel le mercredi. J'aime beaucoup cet hôtel, mais j'ai été déçue que la direction ait laissé autant d'étudiants s'inscrire et qu'elle n'ait exercé aucun contrôle sur la foule.

Nice resort We stayed at this resort in March 2014, upon arriving we were enjoying the quiet, great beaches, good food, and after 2 days, all he'll broke lose. Over 400 students from Notre Dame University arrived. We continued to stay for another couple days hoping the crowd would settle in. Well it got worse, they took over the swim up pool area, were urinating everywhere, getting sick in the bushes, and showing rude behaviour. Thankfully we got moved to another hotel on the Wednesday. I really like the hotel, however was disappointed management had let that many students register and they weren't enforcing any kind of control over the crowd.

L'hôtel était propre et beau. Les piscines étaient un peu froides mais nous avons apprécié les structures rocheuses et les grottes. Le personnel de l'hôtel était très serviable et agréable. Nous réserverons certainement à nouveau ce complexe.

Beautiful resort The hotel was clean and beautiful. The swimming pools were a little cold but we enjoyed the rock and cave structures. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and pleasant we would certainly book this resort again.
