Un centre de villégiature exceptionnel

La plage est magnifique. Elle est large et plate, avec du sable comme de la farine. Vous ne vous battez jamais pour une place sur cette magnifique étendue de plage calme et relaxante. Le personnel est phénoménal. J'ai adoré la barmaid Heather, le serveur Julian et notre femme de chambre, Alise. La nourriture était la meilleure que nous ayons jamais eue dans un tout inclus. Magnifique dîner sur le restaurant de la jetée avec l'atmosphère plus. Le vin était très bon, à la fois le rouge et [... lire plus] le blanc. Déjeuner juste à côté de la plage tous les jours était parfait et beaucoup de variété. Les chambres étaient propres, le matelas confortable mais elles sont très fatiguées. Les chambres ont vraiment besoin d'être améliorées. Nous avons eu quelques problèmes mineurs et la maintenance a réagi immédiatement. Les chambres étaient propres. Si les chambres ont besoin d'être améliorées, cet endroit serait parfait à 100%. Une fois de plus, nous avons été satisfaits par Angela de Trip Central.

Amazing resort Beach is gorgeous. It’s wide and flat with sand like flour. You never fight for a spot on this quiet and relaxing gorgeous stretch of beach. Staff is phenomenal. Loved barmaid Heather, waitress Julian and our maid, Alise. Food was best we’ve ever had at an all inclusive. Beautiful dining on pier restaurant with atmosphere plus. Wine was very good, both the red and white. Lunch right by the beach everyday was perfect and lots of variety. Rooms were clean, mattress comfortable but they are very tired. Rooms definitely need an upgrade. We had a few minor issues and maintenance responded immediately. Rooms were clean. If rooms get a much needed upgrade this place would be 100% perfect. Once again we were happy with Angela from Trip Central.

De superbes vacances !

Le Rex Halcyon est charmant. Le terrain est magnifique et notre chambre était bien équipée, propre et confortable, et idéalement située avec vue sur la piscine et la plage. Nous avons adoré chaque minute de notre semaine. Le personnel était amical et serviable sans être intrusif et la nourriture était abondante et très bonne. La plage est magnifique et nous n'avons jamais eu de mal à trouver des chaises longues. J'y retournerais sans hésiter.

Great vacation! The Rex Halcyon was charming. The grounds are lovely and our room was well equipped, clean and comfortable as well as being ideally located with a view of both the pool and the beach. We loved every minute of our week there. The staff was friendly and helpful without being intrusive and the food was plentiful and very good. The beach is amazing and we never had any trouble finding loungers. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Ancien centre de villégiature

Très vieux et ayant besoin d'aide. La peinture s'écaille au plafond lorsque vous utilisez la salle de bain. Les portes se bloquent et les portes coulissantes collent. Pas de commode, meubles anciens. Tout l'établissement est ancien. Doit être fermé pendant 6 mois et refait, puis ils peuvent augmenter le taux, obtenir une note de 4 étoiles tant qu'ils gardent le même personnel. Le personnel et la nourriture sont les seuls points positifs de cet endroit.

Ancient Resort Very old and in need of help. Paint peels off ceiling when you use bathroom. Door creeks and sliding doors stick. No dresser, furniture ancient. Whole place is ancient. Needs to be shut down for 6 months and redone, then they can raise the rate, get a 4 star rating as long as they keep the same staff. Staff and food only good thing about this place.

Superbe semaine de vacances !

Ma femme et moi y sommes allés du 6 au 13 mars et avons passé un très bon moment. Il est vrai que le complexe est plus ancien et qu'il aurait besoin d'être rénové, mais notre chambre était propre et offrait tout ce dont nous avions besoin pour la semaine, un endroit pour dormir et changer de vêtements. Nous avons passé le reste du temps à nous détendre sur la belle plage et à nager dans l'eau magnifique. Les buffets du petit-déjeuner et du dîner étaient bons. Il n'y avait pas beaucoup de choix,  [... lire plus]mais ce qu'il y avait était très bon. Le grill du déjeuner sur la plage était également bon tous les jours, avec beaucoup de choix. Les barmans de la plage étaient bons et nous n'avons jamais eu à attendre très longtemps pour une boisson. Dans l'ensemble, nous y retournerions certainement.

Great week away! My wife and I were there March 6-13 and had a really good time. Yes the resort is older and could use some tlc, but our room was clean and provided everything we needed for the week, a place to sleep and change clothes. The rest of the time was spent relaxing on the beautiful beach and swimming in the gorgeous water. Breakfast and dinner buffets were good. Not a huge selection to choose from, but what was there was very good. Lunch grill by the beach was good everyday as well, lots to chose from as well. Beach bartenders were good and never had to wait very long for a drink. All in all we would go back for sure.

Excellent voyage

Malgré les critiques négatives sur ce centre de villégiature, mon mari, deux adolescents et moi-même y sommes allés pour une semaine. Nous avions deux chambres et avons opté pour des chambres avec vue sur le jardin, dotées d'un grand lit et d'un réfrigérateur. Les chambres étaient magnifiques, avec vue sur le jardin et la mer d'un bleu parfait. Nous étions dans le lodge principal, à seulement 30 pieds de la plage. Nous avons adoré la nourriture, le service amical, le groupe de tambours d'acier e [... lire plus]t les danseurs d'Antigua. La plage est épique, les vues depuis la jetée Warri au coucher du soleil sont incroyables. Le complexe n'est pas aussi raffiné que d'autres, mais si vous voulez voir Antigua, c'est un endroit fantastique où séjourner. Liz, la représentante d'AirCanada au centre de villégiature, vaut son pesant d'or. Elle connaît tout et s'est assurée que notre voyage était sûr et amusant. Nous avons fait le safari en land rover, l'excursion de plongée en catamaran et avons passé une journée à nous promener à Saint John’s. Les habitants sont sympathiques et serviables. Antigua est d'une beauté inouïe.

Excellent trip Despite some negative reviews of this resort, my husband, two teens and I went for a week. We had two rooms and upgraded to garden view rooms with king beds and fridges. The rooms were beautiful, with views of the garden and the perfect blue sea. We were in the main lodge, and only about 30ft to the beach. We loved the food, the friendly service, the steel drum band, the Antiguan dancers. The beach is epic, the views from Warri Pier at Sunset are incredible. The resort is not as polished as some others, but if you want to see Antigua, this is a fantastic place to stay. Liz, the AirCanada rep at the resort, is a worth her weight in gold. She knows everything, and made sure our trip was safe and fun. We did the land rover safari, the catamaran snorkel trip and spent a day wandering around Saint John’s. The locals are friendly and helpful. Antigua is beautiful beyond words.

Rex (Reck) Halcyon

Plus bas que nos standards mais nous nous en sommes accommodés et avons passé de bonnes vacances. Le restaurant Le Carta sur la jetée est agréable (3 fois en 1 semaine de séjour) mais il y a beaucoup de moustiques. Chambres très basiques Linge vieux mais propre. Pas de coffre-fort, de sèche-cheveux, de cafetière, de fer à repasser, etc. La plage n'est pas très belle, même au Sandals voisin. Rocheuse avec des algues et des débris débris. Le village d'Antiqua, plus bas, a la meilleure plage.  [... lire plus] Les plages d'Antiqua sont publiques. Je serais très déçue si nous avions payé le prix fort, mais compte tenu du prix, c'était correct et j'étais contente d'être venue. Est-ce que je reviendrais dans ce centre de villégiature...... non probablement pas.

Lower than our standards but we made the best of it & had a great vacation. Le Carta restaurant on pier is nice (3 times per 1 week stay) lots of mosquitoes. Rooms very basic Linens old but clean. No safe, hairdryer, coffee pot, iron etc. Beach was not the greatest even at Sandals next door. Rocky with seaweed & debri. Antiqua Village further down has the best beach. Beaches in Antiqua are public. I would be very disappointed if we had paid top dollars but considering the price it was okay & I was pleased we had come. Would I return to this resort again...... no probably not.

Basique mais beau !

Il s'agit d'un centre de villégiature datant d'un certain temps. L'emplacement est très bon et la proximité avec la colline sauvage est magnifique. La plage est belle et longue (parfaite pour courir et se promener) bien que l'eau ne soit pas toujours calme. La nourriture est simple mais bonne. Les chambres sont grandes et propres mais pas du tout chics, elles sont datées mais disposent de l'essentiel. La plupart des chambres ont une très belle vue sur les jardins et, depuis le balcon, on peut au [... lire plus]ssi voir l'océan ! Le personnel est sympathique. Vous payez pour ce que vous obtenez. J'ai vraiment apprécié mon séjour ici !

Basic but beautiful! It is a dated resort. The location is very good and the proximity with the wild hill is beautiful. The beach is nice and long (perfect for running and for walks) although water is not always calm. The food is simple but good. The rooms are large and clean but not fancy at all, they are dated but they have the basics. Most of the rooms have a very nice view of gardens and from the balcony you can also see the ocean! The staff is nice. You pay for what you get. I really enjoyed my stay here!

Grand centre de villégiature

C'est un très bon hôtel. Basique mais avec tout ce qu'il faut. La plage était magnifique et le personnel très serviable. Gardez à l'esprit qu'il ne s'agit pas d'un cinq étoiles et qu'il n'y a donc pas de cloches ou de sifflets, mais il y a tous les éléments de base dont vous avez besoin et une bonne nourriture.

Great resort It was a great hotel. Basic but everything you need. The beach was beautiful and the staff were very helpful. Keep in mind, it is NOT a five star so there are no bells or whistles but it's all the basics you need and great food.

Rex Halcyon Cove

La réservation auprès de Tripcentral a été très bonne et très instructive pour nos vacances. Cependant, après un retard de quatre heures sur la piste d'atterrissage à Toronto, on nous a donné une chambre qui n'était pas conforme aux normes. La porte de notre chambre ne fermait pas, elle était en dehors de la charnière supérieure, ce à quoi ils nous ont dit qu'ils allaient la réparer dans la matinée. Entre autres choses, la porte patio ne pouvait pas être utilisée, elle ne fonctionnait pas,  [... lire plus]le climatiseur ne fonctionnait pas. Nous n'avions pas de coffre pour nos objets de valeur et pas de café dans la chambre. Deux serviettes étaient fournies, pas de tapis de bain, de gants de toilette et d'essuie-mains. Il leur a fallu quatre jours pour nous changer de chambre et seulement après que nous ayons été très exigeants. Encore une fois, vous avez été très serviables avec nous, mais je ne retournerais pas dans ce complexe. Antiqua est une très belle île. Booking with Tripcentral was very good very informative for our vacation. However, after a four hour delay on the runway in Toronto upon arrival we were given a room that was sub standard. The door to our room would not close it was off the top hinge to which they told us they would fix it in the morning. Among other things, the patio door we could not use, not workable, the air conditioner did not work. We had no lock box for our valuables and no coffee in the room. Two towels were provided, no bathmat, face clothes and hand towels. It took them four days to move us to another room and only after we were very demanding. Again, you people were very helpful to us but would not return to that resort. Antiqua is a very lovely island. Thank you, we do plan on booking with you again next year. John and Elizabeth VanBerlo

Une bonne station pour un 3+ étoiles

Nous avons apprécié notre séjour. Superbe plage pour la marche et la baignade (environ un kilomètre de plage de marche). La nourriture était bonne. Le personnel était sympathique. Chambres assez basiques. Un grand restaurant sur la jetée, nous y avons mangé deux fois. Il faudrait plus de chaises chaises de plage. L'île était agréable à explorer. Nous avons fait cela deux jours avec un chauffeur. Je ne recommanderais pas de louer une voiture car ils conduisent de l'autre côté de la route comme  [... lire plus]en Angleterre et il n'y a pas beaucoup de signalisation car ils conduisent de l'autre côté de la route comme en Angleterre et il n'y a pas beaucoup de signalisation.

A good resort for a 3+ star We enjoyed our stay. Great walking and swimming beach (about a mile of walking beach). Food was good. Staff was friendly. Rooms pretty basic. A great restaurant on the pier, we ate there twice. They need more beach chairs. The island was fun to explore. We did that two days with a driver. Wouldn't recommend renting a car as they drive on the other side of the road as in England and not much signage.

Antigua Rex

Nous sommes facilement satisfaits car nous voyageons beaucoup. Nous aimons l'hôtel, il est 3* donc si vous y allez en sachant cela, vous apprécierez la seule chose qui nous a posé problème, c'est que nous n'avons jamais voyagé avec Air Canada Vacations ou Air Canada ils ont perdu nos clubs de golf et nous n'en avons toujours pas alors que nous sommes de retour depuis une semaine, et l'attente à l'aéroport a duré 5 heures, mais ils ont fait des efforts et cela arrive, alors allez-y en sachant q [... lire plus]u'il ne faut pas s'inquiéter des petites choses, apportez vos propres serviettes et profitez des magnifiques couchers de soleil et des gens Kim et Mike

We are easily please as we travel quite a bit we like the resort its 3* so if you go in knowing that then you wi enjoy its a little repudiative on food but food was all really good STAFF ARE AMAZING RIGHT DOWN TO MAITIENCE GUYS the only thing we had issue with as we have never traveled with Air Canada vacations or Air Canada they lost our golf clubs still have none and we are back a week , and the dewy at the airport was 5 hours but they tried hard and sh... does happen so go in knowing not to sweat the small stuff bring your own towels and enjoy the beautiful sunsets and people Kim & Mike

De superbes vacances !

J'y suis allée avec peu d'attentes après tout ce que j'ai lu et j'ai été époustouflée ! La nourriture était irréelle, mais j'aurais aimé qu'il y ait de la nourriture 24 heures sur 24. Il n'y a pas d'en-cas en fin de soirée et rien entre les repas. De plus, il est difficile d'obtenir de l'eau potable et les bouteilles d'eau sont payantes. Les chambres étaient superbes, le lit était incroyable ! Le service était excellent, en particulier Dolston, Dave et Heleen ! Great vacation! I went in with low expectations from everything I read and was blown away! The food was unreal although I wish they had food 24 hrs. There is no late night snacks and nothing in between meals. Also it’s hard to get good drinking water and hey charge for water bottles. The rooms were awesome bed was amazing! The service was top notch especially Dolston,Dave and Heleen! Bar closes at 11 which I thought would suck but if you are nice to them they will set you up with enough drinks to last a while! I would highly recommend this resort to anyone!

Des vacances étonnantes

L'hôtel est bien meilleur que ce que j'avais prévu, le terrain est très beau, il y a beaucoup de fleurs, les chambres sont propres et spacieuses, avec un beau balcon ou un patio si elles sont situées en bas. Nous avions une chambre au dernier étage (troisième) et la vue sur l'océan était magnifique ! Le personnel est très sympathique et le service est excellent. Le bar du patio offre un service à table, nous ne nous attendions pas à un tel service pour le prix que nous avons payé. Amazing Vacation The Hotel was much better than I was anticipating, the grounds are lovely lots of flowers, the rooms are clean and lots of space, nice balcony or patio if on the bottom. We had a top (third) floor room and the view of the ocean was to beautiful! The staff are all friendly and the service was great. The patio Bar offers table service, we did not expect service like that for the money that we paid. The welcome drink when checking in was a bonus. We met lots of people and made some new friends. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would love to go back again next year! Mary and Lance Coulthard

Station de sports d'hiver

Bien que l'hôtel soit "fatigué" et ait besoin d'être rénové, le personnel, la nourriture et la plage sont extraordinaires. Les barmans du bar de la plage sont formidables, très sympathiques et arrangeants. Le fait que vous puissiez changer de serviette de plage pendant la journée est un plus.

Resort While the hotel is 'tired' and needs refurbishing, the staff, food and beach are amazing. Bartenders at the beach bar are great - super friendly and accommodating. The fact you can change beach towels during the day is a plus.

Good resort for the money! The resort was what we expected from other reviews. The room was dated but clean. Everything worked in our room. Food was very good. Drinks were good, including the wine. Not alot of entertainment. Some of the staff were friendlier than others. The servers in the buffet could have had more enthusiasm. The resort is close enough to St Johns to walk. It took a little over an hour each way. The island safari in the open jeep was interesting and fun! If you want a relaxing holiday at a small resort, this is the place for you. Antigua is beautiful!

Belle île

Le Rex est très abîmé. La première chambre qu'ils nous ont donnée était peut-être une étoile et demie. Nous sommes allés à la réception et ils nous ont trouvé une autre chambre. C'était mieux, la vue était belle, il n'y avait pas d'escaliers et le lit était correct. Les chambres pourraient être plus propres et le peu de meubles que nous avions était très daté. Ils vous font payer le prix fort. 50$ pour le convertisseur, et si vous perdez votre serviette ou vos clés, encore 50$ chacun. Les  [... lire plus]divertissements n'étaient pas mauvais, mais ils se terminaient à 22h30 et le bar fermait à 23h00. Bien trop tôt pour nous. Vous ne pouviez accéder à Internet que dans le hall. De nos jours, il n'y a aucune excuse pour cela. Ils avaient la meilleure plage, du sable frais qui s'étendait sur une bonne distance - pas de bagarre pour les chaises - très agréable. La nourriture était bonne mais répétitive. Les hommes de notre groupe n'aimaient pas devoir faire la queue pour manger. Le restaurant sur l'eau était très bien. La vue est incroyable et la nourriture est excellente. La plupart du personnel était très gentil et faisait de son mieux.

Beautiful Island The Rex is very weathered. The first room they put us in was maybe a 1.5 stars. We went to the desk and they did get us another rooms. This was better, the view was nice, no stairs and a a bed that was OK. The rooms could be cleaner, and what little furniture we had was very dated. They nickel and dime you. 50$ for converter, and if you lost towel or keys another 50$ each. The entertainment was not bad, but did end at 10:30 and the bar closed at 11:00. Way to early for us. You could only get internet in the lobby. This day in age, there is no excuse for this. They had the best beach, cool sand that stretched quite a distance - no fighting for chairs - very nice. The food was good but repetitive. The guys in our group did not like having to always line up to eat. The restaurant on the water was very good. Incredible view and the food was excellent. Most of the staff were very nice and tried their best.

The people were wonderful, everything we needed was made available to us if it weren't in the room and we enjoyed the grounds and walks on the beach. The only thing that could be improved was the public washrooms across from the check-in desk with its faulty fawcetts which sometimes felt it could break. All in all a good resort.

Centre de villégiature convivial

À notre arrivée, Aretha nous a accueillis avec un verre et un sourire amical à la réception, et nous a enregistrés rapidement et efficacement. L'hôtel est vraiment vieillot et les chambres ont besoin de quelques réparations, mais le lit était très confortable, nous avions de l'eau chaude en abondance, des serviettes propres et le personnel était très serviable, amical et arrangeant. Il y avait beaucoup d'activités et nous étions toujours encouragés à y participer. J'ai beaucoup aimé les séances  [... lire plus]d'entraînement matinales dans la piscine. La nourriture était vraiment bonne, nous avons apprécié les deux dîners sur la jetée, le steak de thon était délicieux ! Les buffets étaient incroyables : un soir, nous avons mangé du bœuf rôti avec du Yorkshire Pudding et tout ce qu'il fallait. Italien un autre soir. Le déjeuner aurait pu être plus varié, mais il était toujours bon avec des hamburgers, des frites, des salades, des sandwichs à préparer soi-même et toujours du poisson frais chaque jour. Le petit-déjeuner était varié : fruits frais, flocons d'avoine, œufs cuits à volonté, pain et pâtisseries. Il y avait une grande variété de boissons au bar et du thé, du café et des biscuits tous les après-midi. Notre représentante d'Air Canada, Liz, était présente tous les jours et répondait toujours à nos questions. La plage était magnifique et suffisamment longue pour y faire des promenades, l'hôtel Sandals se trouvant juste à côté. Nous avions des divertissements tous les soirs et ils se terminaient toujours vers 22h30, donc nous n'avons jamais eu de problème pour nous endormir le soir. Dans l'ensemble, nous en avons eu pour notre argent !

Friendly Resort Upon our first arrival I was greeted with a drink and a friendly smile at the front desk by Aretha, who checked us in quickly and efficiently. The hotel is really dated and the rooms are in need of some repairs, however the bed was very comfortable and we had plenty of hot water, clean towels, and the staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. There were plenty of activities and we were always encouraged to join in. I really liked the morning workouts in the pool. The food was really good, we enjoyed the two dinners on the Pier, the Tuna Steak was delicious! The buffet dinners were amazing, Roast Beef one night with Yorkshire Pudding and all the fixings. Italian another night. Lunch could have had more variety, but it was consistently good with Burgers, fries, salads, fix your own sandwiches, and always fresh fish each day. Breakfast had a variety of food, fresh fruit, oatmeal, eggs cooked any way you wanted with a variety of bread and pastries. There was a wide variety of drinks at the bar and they had tea, coffee and cookies every afternoon. Our Air Canada rep, Liz was there every day and always answered any questions we had. The beach was beautiful and long enough to go for walks, Sandals hotel is right next door. We had entertainment every night and it always ended around 10:30, so it was never a problem getting to sleep at night. All and all good value for the money!

Antigua

Bien que l'hôtel soit délabré et ait besoin de réparations, tout le reste du Rex le compense. La nourriture, le personnel et la plage sont fantastiques. Le wifi dans le hall a bien fonctionné (mais prenez un spray anti-moustiques car les moustiques sont vraiment mauvais dans cette zone). Nous n'avons pas passé de temps à la piscine, je ne peux donc pas faire de commentaires sur l'espace piscine. Nous avons pris un taxi pour aller en ville sans problème. La plage est publique et les vendeurs [... lire plus] essaient de vendre des choses, mais après avoir dit non, ils vous souhaitent une bonne journée et s'en vont. Il y a environ 10 minutes de trajet pour aller à l'aéroport ou en revenir. J'ai hâte d'y retourner !

While the hotel is run down and in need of repair, everything else about Rex makes up for it. The food, staff and beach were fantastic. The wifi in the lobby worked well (but take bug spray because the mosquitos are really bad in that area). We didn't spend any time at the pool so I can't comment on the pool area. We took a taxi into town with no problems. The beach is public so vendors try to sell things but after saying no, they wish you a great day and move on. It's about a 10 minute ride to/from the airport. I can't wait to go back!!;
