Beautiful resort.

grounds were well kept and beach was kept clean by staff. negatives about over all stay. 1. no T.V. for first 3 days. 2. trip to hotel took 1 hour and 40 mins. 3. rained 4 days total, but not your fault. 4. my husband slipped and fell 3 times on slippery floor (could not tell difference on wet or shiny floor. 5. sharp 1/2 inch step in bathroom husband cut toe on it, very dangerous step if you did not see it.

Great Resort

Our rooms were clean and quiet. Grounds were well kept. No shortage of food, drinks & entertainment. Staff were friendly and always welling to help with whatever we needed. My son was treated extra special on his birthday.

Average Resort

At least a 90 min drive from either Samana or Puerto Plata airports. The resort has no features unless you pay to upgrade to their VIP service. Good: the beach was nice and never crowded. The maids were nice and friendly. Late night disco and karaoke bar were nice touch. Bad: You have to pay for a room safe, no room service, can't get a coffee after hours, food was average and not much selection. Waiting staff were too busy chatting with each other to help customers. Pool area was very smal [... lire plus]l and noisy all the time. Ugly: Bugs in rooms, beach restaurant that didn't have any take away service so you couldn't take a drink to the beach unless you went to other bar a long ways away.

Amazing Staff!!!

I can't wait to plan my next trip here! The staff make this hotel everything! This was my first all inclusive alone and from the moment I arrived the staff made me feel welcomed, and that's important. My room was great but I wanted one King bed and I got two doubles. My room was always cleaned and fridge restocked daily. The food was great, loved the mangos! The Mediterranean restaurant was my favourite! I made some great friends and memories and traveling alone is one of the best decisions I've [... lire plus] made. Everyone looked out for me too! I had an unfortunate discrepancy with the spa and sad to say I will not return to the spa I did not appreciate the way they dealt with the situation.The entertainment was amazing though, the dancers were fun and carefree and so full of energy. I personally enjoyed the guitarist and pianist! I will definitely be back, hopefully soon!

Wonderful first family vacation

Very clean, fantastic food, phenominal customer service. Well maintained areas and clean beach. As this was our first family vacation with our three year old, we weren't sure what to expect. Our child LOVED the kids club and fell in love with the coordinator Dahiana. The only issue we had was the cost for anything additional. They charge $4US per night for a lock for your safe and the excursions we purchased thru Transat vacations nearly made us bankrupt. The transportation was not inlcuded and [... lire plus] the "free" lunch didn't include any drinks and only 1 plate. Hotel great, people great, staff great... my wallet? Completely empty

Beautiful Resort

This was our second Bahia Principe resort experience. Very pleasant and charming place to relax, enjoy great food, great stuff around you will assist for everything you need to make your stay memorable.

Great people, great food, great resort, Queer friendly

The Bahia Principe is a large resort with a variety of pools, entertainment, and dining. We went in June, and we enjoyed friendly, personable staff, great service and excellent pools, food, several kilometers of beach and access to a variety of excursions. Our visit was excellent for the most part. I am going to include everything here that was a concern to us - none of these issues really got in our way or negatively impacted our trip. But I want to post the most inclusive and honest review pos [... lire plus]sible. If you're curious about the queer-friendly element, the details are near the bottom. Things to watch out for: -They do not automatically give you access to the safe. You have to rent if for around $4.50 US. per night. -They turned off the water one night to perform maintenance without giving any of the guests a heads up. Ever been informed that you won't have access to running water for eight hours by calling the front desk AFTER it's already been shut off throughout the whole resort? It would have been nice to be able to prepare for that. -We were given a room that had stains on the wall and ceiling, and with a broken television. We never felt the need to use the TV, and the stains weren't a detriment, but stains (makeup, wine, mildew etc) made the place feel a little "discount". -The lobby wifi is a pain to connect to and has limitations -They hold a lot of group trips. I understand why, because we stayed for the third week of June and it was dead for the first four days despite amazing weather. We personally enjoyed all of the space to ourselves, but I understand that the hotel needs to make money. The group trips were high school Grad Trips, specifically through the organizer, "S-Trip". Once they came in, we lost a lot of services.You could no longer get mixed drinks in any of the restaurants (only wine and beer... and if you've ever tried Dominican wine... it's not their thing.) Some of the bars or pools would be marked as "S-Trip Exclusive", which was never communicated to us. All of the online information informed us that we would have access to all of the facilities, and we found ourselves being kicked out of pools or having to walk to the lobby bar from the entertainment area because the entertainment area bar was "S-Trip Exclusive". The fact that we would not be able to access some of the facilities was not disclosed to us in advance. Positives of the organized groups? We were invited to events that we would not be able to enjoy otherwise such as beach parties and foam parties. Beautiful beaches, vegetation, dancing and staff who are legitimately good people as well as tasty food made our vacation fantastic regardless. The Mediterranean A la Carte was wonderful. We are Canadian. We took all of the issues with a thank you: so this is not the report of someone who tried to fight injustice and was told off. We may have had a different experience if we had complained, but it's not really in my nature, and our trip was pretty affordable. We didn't feel like we had a lot to complain about - but we're submitting the most honest review possible. The entertainment has a few shows that are dance-centric and fun, and a lot of bits that are audience inclusive and comedy-centric. They have a club and a bar on the part of the resort that is usually reserved for buses to drive up to, and approx. four nights per week they have live music and dancing on a stage on the strip where the club and bar are. I feel like a lot of the animation and staffing is reduced in the spring and summer months unless groups are booked. We could have used some animation events at the beach, for example, but their locations and times were very limited. If you are a queer couple considering this and being thrown off by the "no hand holding" laws in the Dominican - yes, this is a thing, but not on the resort. We even discussed it with some of the (closeted) staff. Living in the Dominican as a queer person is horrible by the sounds of it, however resorts are a relatively safe place for staff who are queer to interact and be themselves, and on the resort, tourists are totally safe and completely welcome. We tried to keep our PDA's to a minimum in the Dominican airport, but felt perfectly comfortable and welcome the entire time on the resort. Ultimately, this was a great trip and we found the perfect balance of having space to ourselves and interacting/adventuring with cool people. The Dominican is an absolutely beautiful destination and I 100% recommend it.

Gran Vantana

Hotel grounds are beautiful, rooms are spacious, large bathroom and clean. No Wifi other than Theatre which was poor. If you want WIFI must pay $35 a week and the safe is $ 16 a week, while not expensive generally included. Food was good a Buffett options changed daily which was great. There is no entertainment after 10 pm. Need to leave resort. The activities at the resort are repetitive the nightly shows were repetitive mostly dancing using in house staff and band. After day 3 it i [... lire plus]s the same. The DJ has a good mix of music but they keep the volume low . Staff were great.

Beautiful Resort

This was my third time to this resort and I would go back in a heat beat. Very clean and the food as tasty and there was a large variety of different types of food, friendly staff. The ocean water was a bit dark but that could be because of all the rain. Stayed in block E4 close to everything, ocean and pool view.

Beautiful Resort

This is a very beautiful resort, the grounds are well looked after and clean. The rooms are clean and have everything needed to enjoy your stay. It has the most amazing beach and the Three pools were nice too. The staff are friendly and helpful and go out of there to make your stay enjoyable, would definitely recommend this resort.

Wonderful Experience

I was skeptical about going to this resort from seeing the reviews, however, id like to say I had the best experience here. The food, entertainment, the beautiful resort itself, makes me want to live there. I just want to thank the staff for their hard work and postive vibes all throughout the days I stayed. I recommend!

Lots of fun

This is my second time to the resort, yes it hasn't changed much in 12 years, but I still had a blast. Entertainment is a strong point. Food is decent. Excursions were also pretty good. Rooms clean and well appointed. Enjoyed my time. Great bang for buck.

Great place

All pools.bars.shows and food were great.staff was amazing .not enough seafood presented.not enough english tv or guide to english channels.would have preferred a channel guide or radio for music in the room.

This resort is amazing. I had such a great time. All of the staff on the resort are very helpful and friendly and fun. The only thing I didn't like were the beds, they were too hard otherwise everything was terrific. The food was delicious, the tour guide was great and told us so much about the history of the island. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Awesome resort

Had a great time...we were there from april15 2017 to April 25...the staff are very helpful n welcoming...our room was very clean...the food was awesome...Victor our rep. For West jet is a gem...Eddy our server at main buffet always has a smile on him that makes people smile back...I most definitely would go back...

Great Resort

Beautiful and well maintained property. Enjoyed the gym, mini golf, tennis and kayaking. Good food selection at the buffet. Even my daughter, who is a picky eater, enjoyed the food. Really enjoyed the Mediterrean and Asain a la Carte restaurants. Highly recommend these restaurants!

Comfortable Stay

The Grand Bahia San Juan is a clean pleasant place to stay. Hot water was not a regular occurrence in our room and we had to call the desk for it a few times. Otherwise the room was clean and well cared for and the beds were comfortable. The beach was covered in seaweed while we were there and were told it was the time of year. We visited all restaurants and enjoyed each one thoroughly. The buffet had a variety of foods available and all was well prepared and tasty. The water activities wer [... lire plus]e fun but be prepared that Easter Weekend a lot of things shut down and there are fewer staff available. The Atlantic Ocean is not a great place to snorkel. The sun was hot and the pools were beautiful. .

This was the best vacation ever - A Fabulous Resort

The food was first rate. The rooms were very tastefully decorated and clean. We couldn't get over the comfortable surroundings. Always a comfortable chair or shade with a great cocktail available to help you enjoy yourself. Three pools to choose from and a very nice beach. Resort was immaculate. The property was really well maintained. The staff was incredible. Very friendly and attentive. We were both completely satisfied. We miss it already. We'd go back for sure.

Great resort

This was our second time at this resort. We love the Bahia Principe chain and even though this is an older resort it is a wonderful place to spend a week. The resort is very clean and they are constantly cleaning to keep it that way. The food is great and the gourmet restaurant is one of the best. The biggest thing that sticks out is the staff. They are truly wonderful people. They can't do enough for you and they are always smiling. Eddy in the buffet restaurant is the best. We would go b [... lire plus]ack again for sure.

Hotel Grand Bahi Principe San Juan
