Good resort

The resort was great. Staff was friendly and kind. Always smiling 😊 the only problem was there was not enough for the kids to do. We had 2 10 year olds and an 8 year old. They still had a great time. The food choices were great no one complained ever of being hungry. During meals you could go to the buffet style restaurant above the pool to eat. Kids even went there a couple times by themselves. However if you need to visit medical they are very very pushy and really want to just send you to  [... lire plus]the hospital. Make sure you purchase health insurance! My daughter had an allergic reaction to something while we were there and they did treat her onsite and told us to come back the next day so she could check on her. The next day we went back and my daughter was better however the doctor said she was not and really wanted her to go to the hospital. I refused and then she told me there could be something wrong with her kidneys. Crazy thing to say just to get me to go!! We did not go and my daughter was 100% better the next day. Took her to the doctors when we got home and she is fine! Overall I would rate this experience at 8/10! We would definitely go to the Dominican Republic again!

Puerto Plata

Small resort. Broken shower. Poorly sticked fridge. Supsed to be a family resort and there were little to no children’s activities. 50 chaises at pool for 500+rooms. Absolutely not good value for the dollar. Yearly travellers and this was the worst value for our money. Transat airlines was surprisingly worse than sunwing and their delays. Staff didn’t even help a SINGLE person with overhed baggage let alone any snack. Non existent tv movie or even radio all media down. Broken toilets. Absolu [... lire plus]tely shocking for a 4+hour flight. Sad really. Not the cleanest resort by any means and certainly not accommodating.

Sunscape resort and transat holidays

This was definitely a three star resort. Disappointing. My sons shower head fell off numerous times on his head. Patio doors broken.killed 2 cockroaches and one mouse. Fridge stocked daily means one sprite one coke 2 bottles 500ml of water yet you cannot drink the tap water. Very disappointing for the $1400.00 per person we paid. The transat plane going had broken toilets so only two worked huge lineups. No movie not even a single radio station as their “ media was down”. No snack not a cook [... lire plus]ie or anything. We paid $5600.00 for myself my husband my 21 year old and 17 year old. We cruise or do all inclusives every year. This was by far the most disappointing trip and the value for our dollar was exceptionally disappointing. We travelled as a group of 22 and didnt even get a discount. I think this could have been handled wt better.

Lovely beach and great staff!

the beach was marvellous, inviting, beautiful sand and calm waves, great for children and taking it easy! staff was super-friendly and helpful. Go for the upgrade if you can it's worth it. The Adventure Club for kids was really well resourced and much enjoyed by the 3 yr old in our party. Food was good, on par with most AI resorts.

Great stay at Sunscape

Everything in this resort was fantastic from the beach to the food and the food to the pool. Everything was very enjoyable. Wifi was a little hard to get but besides that Sunscape was fantastic! Would absolutely go again!

Amazing Resort

Absolutely awesome place. Fantastic beaches volleyball, excellent clay courts, great instructor Luis. Food was excellent, service was excellent best message of my life. Absolutely recommended for fun lovers , beach lovers, tennis and volleyball players.

Love this place.

We love Suncsapes. This was our 5th visit in 4 years. The food is great. The staff so friendly. It's clean and the grounds are so well kept. The beach is beautiful. I love taking long walks on the beach it goes on forever. We love returning and seeing the smiling faces of those we've become fond of. They always remember us and say welcome home.

Amazing resort!

This is our second time to this resort. We enjoyed it so much last year that we came back. Our first experience was through the upgrade into the Sunclub. This year we didn't do the upgrade and we experienced a beautiful holiday. The grounds are spectacular. Clean, well maintained and attractive to the eye. Always some gardeners performing their magic. The food was incredible. Numerous al la cart choices and also the buffet. In our opinion, there is no reason to be hungry. The people fr [... lire plus]om Dominican Republic are some of the friendliest that you can meet. Always wanting to make you happy and making sure that if you have a request, they are eager to help you. The beach was amazing. Always clean and the sunshine perfect. Also a great place to meet new friends, which we were fortunate to do. New friends from Vermont😎 I would highly recommend this resort and plan to visit again in the future.

An excellent vacation

We truly adored our vacation. The hotel was beautiful and spotless. The people were very courteous, extremely helpful. The food was exceptional, every restaurant we went too, we were never disappointed. We booked through trip central, and had no complications what so ever. We will book with them from now on. We will definitely go back to sunscape!!! Thank you Chantal

This resort has it all

Second time at Sunscape Resort -I love it there. They have great staff-very friendly and helpful.There is an Excellent choice of food with numerous places to eat,plus a great coffee shop with cappuccino.Nice clean grounds.Beautiful beach. Would recommend and will go back.

It ok

That resort was nice but they aloud the locals in the resort they aloud them in on weekends and holidays. Anyone can come in eat drink take food with them a leave their is no brackets or anything to let you how if you are staying there or not.the adult area always had kids I It when we up great it was so we would not be around kids so much for that. Food was ok at the restaurants it is first come first served

Sunscape in Puerto plata

Very clean Grounds are well kept Very Friendly staff Food was Ok it was cold they would put it out long before it was served fast check in and out shopping on resort pools were clean they do serve Great Pizza was hot

Loved this resort!

First time in Puerto Plata and truly enjoyed our stay. Stayed the week of Nov 19-26/18, in Building 9. Basic room but the shower was fabulous. No charge for the safe or the internet. Internet was sometimes accessible in the room but no problem in the lobby area. The layout of the resort was perfect. It looks bigger on the website but everything is actually close together. A short walk to the beach. Beach bar conveniently located. Washroom was continuously cleaned. This is a very clean and well  [... lire plus]maintained resort. The grounds were beautiful. No reservation required for the à la carte restaurants. Just registered at the entrance to each and they gave us a coaster style pager. We only had about a 20 minute wait. There was a seating area around the bar area with tables and chairs so you could have a drink or food while waiting. The pizza oven is at this location. Two of the bar/eating areas were up stairs so could be an issue for people with mobility issues. Not sure if there was elevator access or not. You could also see the entertainment as the stage was just below, so if you didn't want to be in the crowd you could watch from above. We ate breakfast at Windows buffet each morning. Good selection of food. The Omelettes great. The cappuccino at the Coffee Bar was fabulous. There were no Palapa structures on the beach, but there were Mangrove trees that provided natural shelter from the direct sun. No problem getting a lounge chair. The water was warm and clear. It was a little murky on our last day due to the waves. All in all, it was a fabulous vacation. Having been to all inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, Cuba, Bahamas, Mexico, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, and Antigua over the past 15 years, this one is up there in the ratings for me. The only real negative thing was the beach vendors. So many of them but with a polite 'No thank you', they moved on. It was hard work in the heat and long days for them. Better deals there than in the shops and they expect you to barter. The very friendly staff on the resort are hard working people. Although it is an all inclusive, a few dollars tipping here and there goes a long way for them and is greatly appreciated.

This was a superb place .

This is our second time with the grand kids and we were received with a welcome banner on our door a bottle of rum and some fruits . I thought the touch was so warm that they recognized our stay there. The food is fantastic and the servants are always smiling and there to help with anything. Not like other resort if you are missing something in the room they do it right away, so you don t have to ask again. We will go again because it is close to town and everythingelse you want to do.Fred and M [... lire plus]arlene I recommend it for adults or family.

Awesome staff

Sunscape puerta plata is a small resort with amazing staff. Rooms were great, food was delicious, pool and beach were fantastic. I would return to this resort in the future and definitely recomment this resort to friends

I loved this resort!!

The resort was fabulous!! It was not a larger scale resort and therefore walking to all areas was done in just a few minutes. The main pool was quite large and hosted a swim up bar and snack bar which was very convenient. The a la Cartes were available every night and you did not need a reservation which I really liked. Just outside the area of the restaurants is a bar and pizzeria- the pizza is made to order and was delicious- if you like pizza, you’ll have to check this out. The food was te [... lire plus]rrific and the service was top notch, especially in the a la carte restaurants. The beach was about a 5 minute walk from our building and while there were no umbrellas for the chairs on the beach, there were lots of trees to relax under and enjoy the ocean breeze. The resort was very clean and well maintained. And, I felt very safe in the area. Other areas where I vacationed had armed guards at the gates and you were told not to leave the resort. This resort did not have armed guards and you could walk to the mini mall (mostly souvenir type shops) without any worries. I would definitely recommend this resort and I am looking forward to going back at some time in the future.

Great Place for the Price

I was very pleased with this resort. The ground were very clean and tidy and the beach was cleaned daily of seaweed. The theater was outside in the atrium of the resort by the pools. I had a room near the pool and every night I could hear very loudly the show from 0830 at night until 1000 and one night it went to midnight. This would not be an issue for adults, but I had a child who goes to bed at 800 and he found the noise very distracting. Just a head up, if you are bringing kids try to g [... lire plus]et a room farther away from the pool area for this reason. The food at the a la carte restaurants was amazing, the buffet was average; the deserts were tasteless. I was surprised that this resort does not have an ice cream bar, and the only time ice cream was offered was as a small desert at the a la carte restaurant. Also, trying to get a coffee at the breakfast buffet was trying to wrangle a horse. Most time I did not get a coffee until breakfast was finished as the staff who serve the coffee never seemed to be around. When you did see them and call them over you got a roll of the eye, but a coffee in your mug. However, the weather, the ground, the pool the beach were all pristine and my family had an amazing time at the resort. We did an excursion to ocean world and did the shark swim. This was an excellent place, and was definitely worth the money spent. DO NOT do the city tour with the cable car to the mountain excursion. Basically you are forced to stay in gift shops for 3 hours of the tour in which you pay for. They claim you visit a rum factory, an amber museum, and a cigar factory. These three spots are all gift shops which you are forced to stay in for half hour each place, then then take you to an actual gift shop, then another shop at the end to buy food (because it was 2 in the afternoon and food is not provided). The only parts of the city we saw was the cable car ride (rushed in and out), and a fort (we were given 10 minutes to visit). Basically you pay 45 dollars US to be trapped in gift shops.

Sunscape Resort Amazing Resort

My friend and I visited Sunscape Resort and Spa ending of May to the first week in June. The hospitality and service was exceptional. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure your needs are met. No bracelet or A-le-carte reservation. The hotel ground's are well maintained and clean. Nightly entertainment is great. With new management the resort has encorporated phenomenal changes based on other guests comments. I have also have experience the general manager Mr. Esteban professional ways and [... lire plus] the relationship with his staff and guests. He goes above and beyond. The hire of the new General manager has done justication to the resort. If you are looking for quality vacation at a affordable price, I recommend Sunscape Resort in Puerto Plata. I guarantee you have no regrets. I can go on..and on about my experience for the week. The resort is breath taking, the beach is beautiful, the pools are very clean and the you have a wide variety of food selections. Special thanks to all the staff that help made my stay fantastic. From the moment I arrive until the last minute of my departure was excellent. Manager Johaira was so pleasant and very helpful. Looking for a vacation visit Sunscape. Excellent service. Great resort!

Stayed at Sunscape in May 2018 with my 26 year old daughter. Well laid out resort easy walking distance to pool, restaurants and beach. 20 minutes from airport. Room check in not till 3 but they store your luggage, so pack your bathing suit and sunscreen in your carry on and start enjoying your vacation as soon as you are there. Very friendly staff and clean. Rooms were very clean, beds comfortable, fridge always stocked and if you needed something, just ask. Large pool with wade in area so goo [... lire plus]d for all ages. Buffet restaurant had lots of food choices and the 4 a la cartes were excellent and unlimited to return. Service was excellent. Beach is public so be prepared to have many locals coming up to you trying to sell you things. Only negative - our building #11 was noisy. mainly it was just the partiers coming back from the disco and continuing the party in their rooms or families returning late evening after the show and their kids running and screaming throughout the open concept hallways that was the problem. When you are on vacation, you don’t always consider your actions and how they affect others. Several people we met moved to another building and were very happy with their relocation. We stayed because we were happy with our room location on the 3rd floor and we happened to have wifi in our room. I would definitely go back to this resort. Not sure how or who determines hotel ratings but I think it is definitely 4/4+.
