Hotel is very clean. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The view of the mountains and ocean are breathtaking. We have found that the food at this resort is some of the best on the island. The staff are amazing and always friendly.

Brisas Sierra Mar

This area is good for anybody who love a nature. Mountins forest and mango tree around. From terrase you can see amasing pictures. We had visited this resort second time and every time purchased mango honey. Amasing taste. We not recomended this resort for swimers. Forest beach with dark sand and a lot of seaweeds. But beach is clean. Wery fremdly personal offer good service. This resort is good for anybody who is looking relaksation alone.

Beautiful Scenery questionable service

The Hotel itself was beautiful and the views were breath-taking. We had a great experience with the tours. The snorkeling adventure on the coral reef was amazing. The sail boat tour was very relaxing but the scooter tour that we paid extra for was so exciting and very worth the $25 per person. The tour guide was fantastic and very informative. We visited a local school, a local farm a bat and swallow cave and a beautiful beach. I totally recommend taking the tour. The staff was drastically ei [... lire plus]ther really nice or real rude. The resort felt like a relationship hook up spot for the local men and women to find Canadian partners. There were several older men with young Cuban wives/girlfriends. At times it felt uncomfortable. The beach was clean but the pool needed some TLC. The food was very bland and the fruit, vegetables and desert tables were covered in fruit flies and the food should have been better covered. Not sure if it could be helped or not but I couldn't eat from that section. There was a person that drank too much and was visually impaired that kept getting served well beyond the point anyone should be served. They need to set limits for the safety of their visitors and their staff.

Second time back

We first came to this hotel in Dec 2015 and we enjoyed it very much. The second time back did not disappoint. We love the grounds - the trees, bushes, flowers (and vegetable garden) are lush and very well taken care of. Most of the amenities (lobby, buffet, a la carte restaurants, pool, cafe, towel shack, etc) are centrally located so very convenient. The beach has lots of shade and the pool does too if you get there early enough to snag a palapa. There is also a lunch shack close to the beach [... lire plus] where we ate every day - fresh fish, salad, soup, hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza. The menu does not vary but we didn't mind as it is a nice, quiet spot to eat and you are well served. Some days there is a band in the beach shack but this time (mid April) there were not a lot of guests at the hotel so we only had a band one day. The entertainment in the lobby bar is very good, the only complaint is there are not enough bands playing cuban music which we love. The buffet has a good variety, both for breakfast and dinner - we did not go there for lunch so cannot comment on that. The a la carte restaurants were very good and they usually had a band for dinner so we enjoyed that. The return flight (Air Cubana) was delayed 2 hours and the airport is quite small, crowded and noisy so we were not impressed and as this was not the first time we have experienced significant delays with Air Cubana we will think twice about flying Air Cubana again.

Pleasant Resort

The resort at Brisas Sierra Mar is very pleasant to visit. The grounds are lovely, public areas including the washrooms are nicely kept, the beach area is nice and has some good shaded areas, the pool area needs some updating, the rooms are dated but very pleasant and the staff are very congenial and helpful. The snorkelling was really enjoyable.

Had a great time

The Hotel could use a few repairs, Our room had water leak in the ceiling a few times, the toilet door wouldn't close, the toilet needed fixing but, The person who cleaned our room, did a great job every day. It was fine for Cuba. The Staff were nice and friendly. The food was pretty good compared to a few resorts I have been to in Cuba. The chef's were always well dressed and seemed to take pride in their jobs. The bar tenders were friendly. The beach was enjoyable but not so good for sno [... lire plus]rkeling.

Wonderful people, relaxing vacation

Brisas Sierra Mar is a very nice resort, by Cuban standards. While it is a little dated and not in an excellent state of repair, the staff are very friendly and hospitable, the food is very good and the entertainment is diverse and talented. The prices are affordable and the location is great, so I would recommend it to anyone who can appreciate the culture in less than a 5 star resort.

Good resort

The hotel was good, very clean and comfortable. Awesome beach, I love the water, so warm.The paddle boat was fun and relaxing, my husband enjoyed snorkeling We really had a good time I would definitely return, for a much longer stay

Amazing resort will go back in a heart beat

Wonderful

A wonderful congenial, beautiful place to vacation in and the staff and clerks are excellent. This is a very warm atmosphere as is the surround neighbourhoods which are safe for ladies to travel in. I would recommend this to any woman without hesitation.

A wonderful and friendly atmosphere

This hotel is an older hotel but contains charm and most scenic from the hotel rooms. The food it fine and the staff are warm and very helpful. The gardens are second to none. You feel loved and cared for here. All hotels should have such a wonderful staff.

IT'S BEEN BETTER

IT NEEDS FIXING ON EVERY CORNER. BICYCLES ARE 5 YEARS OLD NOW, FOOD HAS BEEN MUCH BETTER IN THE PAST. THE REASON TO GO THERE IS THE SCENERY AND THE FRIENDLY PEOPLE. THERE USED TO BE MUCH MORE LIFE MUSIC, THEY CUT , CUT, CUT.

Nice grounds, pool needs TLC, food needs steam tables

We spent 2 wks in Jan 2017, first week was terrible in room 310, no hot water or any water pressure in shower, then no air conditionning, then to top it off after 6 days, no water in the whole hotel, imagine the problems with toilets!!!! Second week was excellent as we changed rooms to 135, excellent water pressure in shower, on bottom floor, elevators worked perfectly, beach was nice, need more beach chairs as several are broken and the others are "reserved by repeats" so you have to go at 7a [... lire plus]m to get a spot! Now food was better at beach restaurant, fresh lettuce from hotel garden, very good soup and fresh fish cooked while you wait, yum! In hotel restaurant, the tables where the warm food was set out never was hot so food not very hot. Problem for food poisoning! Lack of fruits and vegetables (canned available) We bought bananas and tangerines from locals on beach! Would I return maybe for 1 week for the excellent temperature!

25th visit

The grounds and structure of this Hotel are amazing. The Staff and returnees are the reason we go back every year. The hotel is going downhill every year. This year we were 2 days without hot water and our air conditioning was out for 3 days.

Beautiful area of Cuba

The hotel is old and run down, but clean. The staff are fantastic. Everything worked fine. Very average Cuban resort experience. The area this resort is in is just gorgeous. Had hot water all but one day, which is good for Cuba. The pool and beach were both relaxing and swimmable.

Place to go back to

My husband and I went back to Brisas several times and likely will go back again. This year there were renovations on the grounds, and nevertheless we did not feel we lacked anything. The food was tasty and healthy; the lobby provided enough place for people to sit and enjoy, particularly the evening musical entertainments. The wether was splendid all the time. All personnel at the resort is professional and helpful: we always have a feeling to coming back to friends and family.

Renewal of Friendships

over 80% of guests from Sierra Mar are repeaters and go there year after year. We have tried resorts all over Cuba. We always return to Sierra Mar. It's not the best food but other factors more than compensate for this. You will never starve either. One good factor is you don't put on weight after a two week holiday. We have never gotten ill on the food nor has there been a meal where we could not find something I liked to eat. There are always lounge chairs available, both around the p [... lire plus]ool and at the beach area. I do suggest using OFF or another bug spray as, after all, it is the tropics, but the problem is not annoying; it's just being careful. There is even a library with books in 4 different languages that guests stock up after they have finished with a book! And it's free. In twenty years of going to Sierra Mar I have NEVER had anything stolen. Management takes the safety and security of its guests uppermost. If there is a complaint, it is acted on immediately. This is one reason why 80% of guests return year after year. There are people of all economic levels at the resort. If you want to show off, this is not the place for you. If you want to meet a lovely staff who treat you like family and you want to have a relaxing vacation with excellent warm weather and friendly people , come join the Sierra Mar family.

Great view and great people

The view from the resort is spectacular. The dive team are great, so helpful and friendly. Enjoyed my relaxing stay. The food is average Cuban fare. Some recent upgrades were visible. Lots of repeat guests.

Home away from Home

We have been going to this hotel since 2000 .The hotel can certainly use some upgrades such as replacing closet doors that constantly bind and make a terrible noise.A bank outlet would be so appreciated instead of burdening the front desk staff with yet another responsibility and would offer the guests more privacy..The restaurant menu could use improving---the meals were repetitive and very little imagination shown. The staff are superb--5 star!!!!!!!! Always friendly and helpful The last tri [... lire plus]p (Nov 10-24) proved what an asset they are to the hotel especially the doctor -Dr Ricardo Sosa and a security guard named Leonel who went above the call of duty when my husband had a problem and my brother got very ill and had to return home with a medical emergency..I must also mention the Hola Sun representative-Elberto-who was such a help arranging for wheelchair and assistance on the homebound trip. I do hope I can make another trip in the spring and will certainly call upon Oneil Graham for his capable booking skills

Amazing people

The hotel seemed a little less than last year, in regards to food. But the bread was good. Rooms were good, Service was good, transportation really lacking. Mercedes at front desk was awesome. The flight was delayed going and coming making a very long trip. It is nice that it is quiet at night. For a 3 star would recommend, but would advise to go for a 4.5
