Ok Resort

The Hotel is a little dated but overall it's very clean. The food at the buffet is ok. Many days there were empty bins of food and very slow to bring out more. The biggest issue is the safes are not electronic but a key lock they they said others could have access to that same key. Plus you have to pay 4 dollars a day for it. Funny.....I didn't see that info anywhere on any website. Most of us on the trip did not pay to use it and had to keep our personal items with us all day. Fair Resort - starting to show its age.

Food was terrific, staff was very friendly but not very many beach activities i.e. para sailing etc. Beach was not as well kept as I expected. Seaweed problem with no white sand beach as we were lead to believe. We had to pay extra if we wanted a lock for the safe.

Amazing and Memorable Resort

When you arrived at this hotel they made you welcome right away. This hotel was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had lots of daily activities to do during the day as well as great day trips off the resort. The pool area as well as the beach area were clean. The buffet offered food for everyone. I would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Great resort

Our stay was very enjoyable and relaxing. Clean and courteous. A thank you to all staff members. Rooms are ocean view with balcony, spacious and clean. Food has a wide variety for all ages. Entertainment was different and involves all. Would recommend for quiet relaxing holiday for all ages.

Very good resort!1

The rooms were ok, but the food was fantastic. Very family oriented resort. Maybe offering more activities would benefit! Overall, very good experience :) The beach was not the greatest but the staff were extremely accommodating and I did not have any problems. Would recommend going if you are looking for a family oriented vacation.

Lovely resort

Everything was very nice, staff were helpful and courteous. Hard to get a lounge chaise at beach and pools and annoying that people would reserve their's with towels, but remain empty most of the day.

Amazing vacation

We were 6, 3 adults and 3 kids ranging from 17 to 4. We all had a good time. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The entertainment staff are amazing. The kids disco nightly is well organised to get all the kids involved and the shows after are also entertaining. The food was good. The rooms are clean with a nice sized balcony.

Amazing trip

First I'd like to say people that say negative things about this resort are crazy. This was our 7th time to bahia San juan first time back in 10 years and it was even nicer than I remembered so many improvements. Staff excellent Restaurants excellent We had a suite which is two rooms two bathrooms for the extra well worth it for our two week stay. We will definately be returning again. Thankyou so much Bahia Principe staff from housekeepers bartenders grounds keepers waiters entertainment  [... lire plus]staff we had an amazing two weeks.

Fabulous Week!

This hotel offers all you could possibly desire. The bang for your buck is a deal and you won't be disappointed. Incredible staff, beautiful grounds, delicious food, and a great time! Hope to return in the future!

Good resort but not a pleasant trip

I enjoy most of my trips but did not enjoy DR. Beaches are all public so you get harrassed daily by local beach vendors, know one seems to know English so you have to learn Spanish and I am talking about bartenders etc. Cleaners always put my towel back when I would place it on the floor and never made my bed. They would fold the blankets and put it on the chairs or closet. I asked for new sheets and they just reused the same sheets that I spilled coke on. Beach was super rocky and dirty. Could  [... lire plus]not see anything but dark brown ocean. I have been on a few trips and enjoyed all of them except this one. One more thing, resort reps harrassed you to see their other resort through videos at a 60 minute presentation that I had to refuse more then once. If you are looking to relax than skip this resort or country all together. Only thing I enjoyed was food and the sun when beach vendor's left you alone.

Definitely going back!

My husband and I just got back on Friday. What a beautiful resort! We had a one bedroom master suite which was awesome, two bathrooms and two balconies overlooking the ocean. The food at the buffet was great, lots of selection! The beach was nice but definitely does not compare to Cuba. The nighttime entertainment was great with lots of audience participation. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure everyone was having a good time! We will definitely be going back!

Great experience.

The Grand Bahia Principe did not disappoint. The service was great. The food was amazing. Our room was clean. The grounds were well maintained. There were activities but you had to go find them, the activity staff didn't rally people. The beach is calm but the water is murky.

Satisfactory resort overall: 4 stars maximum

My husband and I had a good experience overall. Our room was comfortable, with all amenities. Personnel was kind and helpful (as long as you had working knowledge of Spanish). Food was varied. We had fantastic meals in the different restaurants. The grounds were kept clean. Lots of activities were available at no cost from dancing lessons to Spanish lessons, from catamaran to kayak and stand up paddle boards. However, some of our friends encountered problems, e.g. only lukewarm water in som [... lire plus]e rooms, housekeeping not organized, limited help from the front desk. There were robberies. Balcony doors were forced and different items anything from computer plugs and computers to personal items were stolen. Each room was equipped with a safe but you had to pay extra for the lock. We found the extra cost of US$4.00 per day ridiculous but necessary. . We had two concerns. The Internet would only work from the lobby, no access whatsoever from the room. The resort itself was isolated. Any town worth visiting was at least one hour away, which made outside trips very lengthy. First world problems for sure, but still inconvenient.

Overall Great resort

The grounds were well kept. The food was awesome. The rooms and buildings are starting to look a bit dated , but still kept extremely clean. The rooms need coffee makers in them. Staff very nice. Overall a great resort but not 5 star.

Wonderful Resort!!

We loved every minute of our stay at the resort!! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a beautiful wedding on the beach and were very pleased with all the details provided for by the wedding coordinator! We will definetly return!!

Great Resort

We had a wonderful time....very clean, rooms were always spotless and we had the best cheery maid....the food was amazing, especially the a la cart restaurants!!! The beach was not the best although they did rake it in the morning...

Only worth it if you get it cheap

The grounds were lovely. Rooms somewhat dated but comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Insufficient beach chairs for such a large hotel. People constantly searching for a beach chair or stealing your chair if you get up for a drink. Food not so great. Too salty also. Beach horrible. Water brown and full of sea weed. Will not go back.

Beautiful resort!

We had a great time at Bahia Principe! The resort was clean and comfortable. The pools were amazing and the staff were extraordinary! I would recommend this beautiful place to anyone for their vacation.

Beautiful Resort

Overall, this resort was wonderful. Beautiful grounds, rooms, pools, night life, staff, and beach. My one concern was that unfortunately, we experienced a very bad sand flea problem and got many uncomfortable bites.

Will not recommend this resort

The most disappointing trip I've ever had and I travel a lot. Beach is covered in seaweed, water is cloudy and murky, we were severely bitten by sand fleas in just 30 min that we spent walking on the beach. We look like we have chicken pox. Food is scarce and monotone, we ate pasta and French fries all week with occasional broccoli or cauliflower and it was a treat! Entertainment and night shows were ridiculously boring and amateur. Room was ok, few giant roaches, half of the lights were n [... lire plus]ot working. Water pressure is the worst I've ever experienced - it took me over 30 min just to wash my hair, and it's only shoulder length. Activities are horrible - we had 11 people signed up for archery and only 1 bow! Same with mini golf - only 2 clubs. And yes, one of the worst nightmares - no normal coffee. I'm not totally spoiled but when I have to wait 40 min in line for self served coffee from the machine and get hot water or warm milk instead of cappuccino or espresso, I'm really disappointed. Staff is not very helpful, we never got a blanket for my daughter that was not provided to start with, and I asked for it 4 times. Quite often at the buffet we were not even offered water or wine, nothing. And when it says that the drive from the airport to the resort is only 60 min - we were on the bus with no toilet facilities for almost 2 hours because they go to other resorts too. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Avoid at all
